Denver Metro Fire Apparatus - ShoreFire - 11-18-2012 Nice pix from the past, Louvires Eng's 122 & 123 were the ugliest rigs on the front range! Denver Metro Fire Apparatus - GA_Dave - 11-18-2012
Castlewood's first aerial, a 1976 Seagrave / LTI 85' aerial ladder with a 350 gallon water tank
This rig went on to serve the Tri-Community FD in Collegedale, TN for many years. The pump and tank were removed. As far as I know, it is still in service with some FD to the east of Chattanooga, I just don't recall which one. Perhaps the equivalent of a car on blocks? Be careful where you leave your Ladder parked ;-) Kinda sad to see this old rig torn appart, I think this was the old Truck 8 but 12 & 15 ran sister rigs. Denver Metro Fire Apparatus - Guest - 11-29-2012 I was able to find some "older" pre-merger South Metro photos today. Credit to SMFRA First up is Unit 212 a 1992 Chevrolet / Kodiac / Wheeled Coach. First started it's life as a Paramedic Rescue and moved into the Dive Rescue role. It's pictured here running out of 37's and is currently housed at 31's. This unit will soon be replaced by a Stuphen walk-in rescue. Denver Metro Fire Apparatus - Guest - 11-29-2012 Next up is Unit 316 which is a 1984 Spartan / General. It began it's career with the Cherry Hills Village Fire District as an open cab before merging with Castlewood / South Metro. Some time in the mid 90's it was refurbished with an enclosed cab and sold in 2007. Denver Metro Fire Apparatus - Guest - 11-29-2012 Unit 319, a 1994 Pierce Dash which originally served as Engine 36. Denver Metro Fire Apparatus - Guest - 11-29-2012 Unit 320 was purchased at the same time and ran as Engine 34 until Firehouse 39 opened in 1997. This unit is now Engine 49 and also assigned to the Academy. Denver Metro Fire Apparatus - Guest - 11-29-2012 Unit 321 is a 1995 Pierce Saber with a 65' Tele-Squrt. It started and ended it's frontline career as Squrt 38 and is currenlty in reserve status. |
