Engine 71-2 was a 1962 GMC - American LaFrance 750/750 purchased as a stock truck to replace a 1948 GMC / 1927 Buffalo engine. Serving until 1981 when it was replaced by a 1969 American LaFrance ex-Weldon Fire Company of Montgomery County. The 1962 GMC - LaFrance was sold to a dealer and then to the Highway 52 Fire Company in Hudson, Pasco County, Fl. The engine was turned over to Pasco County when the Highway 52 Fire Company closed in 1988. RE: Keystone State Relics - siiirhd88 - 04-18-2023 Chester Heights, Delaware County Engine 71-1 was a 1969 International Lodestar - John Bean HPF/250/250 engine that replaced a 1949 Chevy 500/300 ex Lima Fire Company. 71-1 had a Wisconsin powered 250gpm pump in the hose bed that supplied two 1 1/2 inch lines. In the early 1980s the 250gpm pump was removed and Hamerly installed a 750gpm front mount pump. 71-1 served until 1989 when it was replaced by a Pierce 1250 engine. RE: Keystone State Relics - siiirhd88 - 04-18-2023 Chester Heights, Delaware County engine 71-2 was a 1969 American LaFrance 1250/750 engine ex Weldon Fire Company of Montgomery County purchased in 1981 to replace the 1962 GMC-LaFrance. It was sold to a dealer in Missouri in 1992 and replaced with a Pierce 1250gpm engine. Any idea where the LaFrance ended up? RE: Keystone State Relics - siiirhd88 - 04-18-2023 Chester Heights, Delaware County. Engine 71-2 was a 1967 International-Hahn bowrrowed from the Aston Beechwood Fire Company in 1981 after the 1962 GMC-LaFrance was sold and before the 1969 ALF was in service. RE: Keystone State Relics - siiirhd88 - 04-18-2023 Chester Heights, Delaware County. Air Bank 71-8 was a large cascade system supplied by two compressors. In 1969 71-8 used a 1959 ex milk truck van, then a 1967 ex bread truck International step van, and then a 1958 GMC-American LaFrance-Herman squad, ex Claymont, Delaware. The body was later transferred to a 1977 International chassis. RE: Keystone State Relics - siiirhd88 - 04-18-2023 Chester Heights, Delaware County. Tanker 71-4 was an ex military FWD obtained from the Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia by the Lenni Heights Fire Company in the late 1970s. In 1984 Chester Heights obtained the truck and installed a 1000 gallon tank. The next year it was replaced by a International 3000 gallon tanker. A Mack chassis later replaced the International. Placed in service in December 1937 the Dodge was still used for brush fire response into the early 1980s. It was later sold to a private individual. Brush 54-8 was a 1965 Dodge Power Wagon - Harwick 250/250 brush truck. One of the last trucks made by Harwick, the body was incomplete when the company went out of business. The truck was completed by the fire company. It was housed in 1965 with the 1965 ALF. In the early 1980s the rusted rear body was replaced with a commercial Reading utility body and the truck repainted in lime to match the new Duplex-E\-One engine. The truck was later sold to Llewellyn, Pa. RE: Keystone State Relics - siiirhd88 - 04-19-2023 Lenni Heights, Delaware County. Engine 54-1 was an early 900 Series 1958 American LaFrance 1000/750. Engine 54-2 was a 900 Series 1965 American LaFrance 1250/500. It replaced a 1952 Chevy-Howe that was sold in November 1964 to Minnesota. Originally red, the LaFrance was refurbed and repainted to lime in the early 1980s to match the 1982 Duplex - E\-One. RE: Keystone State Relics - siiirhd88 - 04-19-2023 Lenni Heights, Delaware County. Engine 54-1 was a 1982 Duplex - E\-One engine that replaced the 1958 ALF. It was the first diesel powered and the first lime green aparatus in the company. It was delivered on 15 June 1982, placed in service on 15 September and housed on 9 October. RE: Keystone State Relics - siiirhd88 - 04-19-2023 Lenni Heights, Delaware County. The fire company established a canteen service in September 1975 using an old step van donated by the Ladies Auxiliary of the neighboring Aston Beechwood Fire Company. That van was replaced in 1978 by a International Step Van that had been the former Chester Heights Fire Company Air Bank cascade truck. RE: Keystone State Relics - siiirhd88 - 04-19-2023 Lenni Heights, Delaware County. I don't know the photographer of this great photo of Brush 54-8, the 1965 Dodge-Harwick 250/250 before the body was replaced and the truck repainted. |
