Canada Eh? - Big Dave - 08-29-2011

returning to the prairies, I photographed another of the new Pierce's with the large cabs. Medicine Hat, Alberta's Engine 2 2011 Pierce Velocity 1250/540/50 Job # 23965

finally, in Regina, Saskatchewan, I captured this old war horse and beauty in service as a spare pumper. It will be retired as the 4 new pumpers and 3 quints go into service.

P101 is a 1968 Mack CF608F 1050/500 s/n #1030

AWESOME shots Dave, looks like you had a great trip!

Dave,

great photos of great looking trucks. The Rosenbauer booms and the Metz ladder from Victoria are awesome.

Big Dave, that close to me and you never dropped me a line? tsk, tsk, tsk <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tisktisk.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tisktisk' />

Part of Dave's visit to the west coast included a quick swing around the lower mainland, as the greater Vancouver is sometimes called. Beside the two rigs from Abbotsford that Dave posted earlier, was this apparatus lettered as E-1. This truck was delivered to Abbotsford Dec/Jan. and is a 2010 Smeal Spartan Glad with 1750 pump, 500 gallon water tank, twin 25 gallon foam tanks, and a 105' Smeal aerial.

Dave and I also visited a local collector of well kept and restored apparatus in hopes that his newest truck was in town, an Ahreans Fox engine, but it was still sitting at Firefly Restorations in sunny Maine. We did however manage to catch a photo of this 1948 Bickle Seagrave Model 66EA 75 ft. service aerial ex Toronto, Ontario and ex St. Hubert, Quebec. This truck was featured on the cover of the summer issue of Enjine Enjine in 1987.

On sunny Vancouver Island we came across the fire hall in the small community of Coombs/Hilliers and my friend Dave charmed the chief into dumping the hall. This is their first out engine, a 2004 Superior built GMC T8500 with a 1050 pump,800 gallon water tank and 30 gallon A foam tank.

I am switching back to a few photos that I had previously resized to post that are sitting on my desktop. These Images are from another municipality within Metro Vancouver and include a few past rigs as well as some of their current in service apparatus. At one time the rescue in Port Coquitlam was this 1988 Hub Ford CF 8000 truck.

The replacement truck for this is this 2004 SVI Spartan walk around rescue.

Canada Eh? - Guest - 09-01-2011

This is one of the reserve apparatus, a 1997 Superior Mack MR 688P with 1500 pump, 500 water and 25 foam.

Canada Eh? - Guest - 09-01-2011

Anderson Engineering built this 1980 Freightliner FLL aerial device featuring an 80' Hi-Ranger boom, a 1050 pump and 250 gallon water tank.

Canada Eh? - Guest - 09-01-2011

The Hi-Ranger was replaced by a couple of 75' quints, with the second one delivered in 2002. Engine 8-1 is a 02 Smeal Spartan Gladiator with 1750 pump, 480 gallon water tank 40 gallon foam tank and 75' ladder.

Canada Eh? - Guest - 09-01-2011

The newest engine in PoCo is this 2008 Smeal Spartan Gladiator 1500/900/CAFS equipped truck running as Engine 1

Dave took us off the main highway on Vancouver Island to the inland community of Lake Cowichan, where he again used his charm to talk a retired FF at the station to phone the Chief, who very kindly came over to the fire hall and pulled out a few of the trucks for us to photograph. It pays to travel with Dave I guess! It is always nice to have company when you are poking around looking for stuff to shoot too! Rescue 7 in Lake Cowichan is this 1990 Hub on a Ford F350 chassis.

Anyone have anything up close of the Ft Gary range buggies?

Canada Eh? - Big Dave - 09-03-2011

what kind of detail photos of the range trucks would you like? There are still a few that are awaiting delivery so I should be able to photograph whatever you wish. Please let me know. Rob, mia culpa. As I stay at a hotel in Claresholm and depend on sunny weather, it is hard to determine where I will be in advance. I will try to make a point of contacting you before my trip next year.

Canada Eh? - Fire28 - 09-03-2011

Dave,

I'd appreciate photos of as many of them as you can get (hoping I'll get them in the next batch from you).

Also you get my PM?

Thanks

Tim

Are any of the range trucks going to Borden? I'd love to see one along with the new pumpers up at the training academy. The CF fire academy is the hanger over from the Cadet Instructor training hanger at the airport. (Not really a hanger, but on hanger row - in place of the hangers built during and after WW1 for flight training.)

Sides, rear set-up, reels, pump walk-way. Just s general walk 'round. Thanks.
