TEXAS RIGS - Engine2524 - 09-27-2007
This was their backup ambulance. 1970's Chevy Suburban/Summers ambulance. It was a BLS unit just prior to them becoming an ALS service. Sorry about the photo quality.
Based on the grille alone, that was either a 1971 or 72 Suburban. TEXAS RIGS - 1961MackC95 - 09-28-2007 Bob: Very nice shots of the classic Dallas area vehicles. Keep them coming! Lindsay D Richardson, TX TEXAS RIGS - GA_Dave - 09-29-2007 Quote:Their Truck Co. was this 1969 ALF/Snorkel, 70 ft. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bitch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> NO, NO, NO! It's NOT a Snorkel! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> It's an AERO CHIEF. The generic term would be Articulating Platform. Check the website: www.aerochief.com (page 5, almost to the bottom) DISCLAIMER: Although factual, the preceeding message should not be taken too seriously. The intent was to inform, not criticize. I do appreciate the photo. After your photo was taken, it was repainted yellow. Registration #7-1-1697 was later sold to Bonham, TX and repainted red again. Also, thanks for posting the Richardson WLF, Spec #80-229, I had never seen a shot of it before. And the Suburban was a 1971. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blah.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-03-2007 Here are some more past and present rigs from my photograph collection. Any spec. corrections or assistance would be appreciated. Sorry about the quality of some of the photos as photography as been an ongoing learning experience. Hope you enjoy!!! Thanks, Robert. This first photo is a 1963 Ford/FD built grass truck (1A-Wagon). TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-03-2007 Here is one of Richardson's reserve engine back in the 70's-early 80's. It's a 1953 GMC/General, 750-300. It was one of 2 but I never was able to get the second one photographed. Richardson is a northern Dallas suburb which presently has 6 stations for those of you not familiar with the area. TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-03-2007 This is another reserve engine, a 1958 ALF, 750/300. TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-03-2007 Richardson got into the paramedic business back in the 70's and this was a reserve ambulance which served as a BLS unit prior to the transition. 1975 Chevy/Summers (ex.-Amb. 31). TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-03-2007 This was one of two engines that were stationed a Central Station back in the 70's. 1-Engine was a 1972 ALF, 1000/500. Can anyone refresh my memory and tell me what the spherical tank just in front of the hosebed was for? I think it mixed foam with water???? TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-03-2007 Sorry, I am having trouble uploading Richardson 1-Engine, so I signed off and am now back on trying again. TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-03-2007 Finally!!!!!!!!! Here is the second engine from Central Station, a 1963 Mack C-85, 1000-500, 8-Engine. TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-03-2007 One of two Richardson owned, a 1975 Intern'l/Pierce, 1000/500, 2-Engine. TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-03-2007 Here's 2-Engine's sister, 3-Engine. TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-03-2007 Here is 4-Engine again. TEXAS RIGS - 1961MackC95 - 10-03-2007
Finally!!!!!!!!! Here is the second engine from Central Station, a 1963 Mack C-85, 1000-500, 8-Engine.
Bob: This would be a C-95 as it has a 1000 GPM pump. A C-85 would be a 750 GPM pump. Nice photos of the old Richardson apparatus. Lindsay D Richardson, TX TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-03-2007
Nice photos of the old Richardson apparatus.
Shoot, Lindsay. There sure were a lot of ALFs in your neck of the woods once upon a time. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Thanks for sharing another great set of pictures from Texas, Bob! TEXAS RIGS - 1961MackC95 - 10-04-2007
Shoot, Lindsay. I guess the old adage from Mack wasn't taken seriously-"Quality Counts!" <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/idea.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Lindsay D Richardson, TX TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-04-2007 Sorry I had to end my posting last night. Here are some more photos. First is Richardson's first Truck Co. I believe. It was a 1967 WLF/HiRanger, 75 ft. (1-Truck). Back then it had a 2 man crew. The engines had 3 man crews. TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-04-2007 Here's 4-Engine, which was a 1968 WLF, 1000-500. TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-04-2007 This 1981 Ford/FMC 1000/500, replaced 8-E Mack. TEXAS RIGS - Guest - 10-04-2007 In 1979 Richardson replaced 1-Truck with this 1979 Hendrickson/E-One 106 ft ladder and moved it to Central Station. |
