Thanks Firehouses Of California - Guest - 11-17-2013 All of the older houses do have poles. Unsure about the newer houses. And, yes 83s is all FD. FS 87 as well. Firehouses Of California - Aaronw - 11-22-2013 A little something from the north end of the state Oakland's "gingerbread or storybook" fire house, located in the Montclair (hills) district of Oakland. Built in 1927 and operated until 1989. It was known to be near the Hayward fault, but with the heightened earthquake awareness following the Loma Prieta quake in 1989 (on the San Andreas fault), surveys found that the Hayward fault literally runs through the station. The building still exists but now is only used by the city for storage. Photo taken in 1990 shortly after it was closed. Photo credit to myself |
