This piece is now owned by a Camden City, NJ Captain. He found it somewhere in (upstate?) Pa, and purchased it for dirt cheap. While driving it back to Camden, it blew a head gasket. Cost him 2x the amount he paid for it to have it towed!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Oops' />

Engine 40 has been temporarily reactivated after a 25 year hiatus due to the Big Dig related troubles, in service between 2pm and 8pm(before and after rush hour basically).

It will be running out of it's old bay in it's old quarters on Sumner St. in East Boston alongside Engine 9 and Tower Ladder 2.

It looks like it is using one of the 1987 E One spares, not entirely sure what unit it was prior to being taken out of frontline service though.

Any other units deployed because of Big Dig related problems?

That's the only extra Boston Fire Department unit that I know of in service at this time aside from the mutual aid support that East Boston always gets from Chelsea and Revere.
