Syracuse, New York - John Kenealy - 08-03-2014 I was on the "Ladder 13 Tour, 2014", for most of the day. I wanted to say that the SFD hospitality even extended in to the following weekend, as I returned to Syracuse to hit the stations that I missed. I can't always say that, as a solo photographer sometimes doesn't get the same treatment as a group does. But Saturday, at the two stations I visited, I was treated to the same wonderful reception as our group got the week before. That is testament to the fine department that Syracuse has. And thanks to Ken for all of his hard work in setting up the tour. Syracuse, New York - derry86 - 08-12-2014 Great set of pictures, of a great department. Always had great respect for the SFD. Chief, what are the hose loads on your pumps? Syracuse, New York - fyreline - 08-12-2014 Syracuse engines are all 2000gpm Hale pumps, and all carry four crosslays, two 200 ft. & two 300 ft., plus a 150 ft. preconnect in the front bumper hose well. Supply line is a split 1500 ft. (750 each side) of 4" with Storz couplings. An additional 300 ft.lay of 2" line off the back is preconnected to a Blitzfire nozzle. The three SFD engines without 50' telescoping booms all have 1500gpm TFT deck guns. We are fortunate to have an excellent water supply system in Syracuse - over 6000 hydrants, the average is about 80 lbs., so we can supply "big water" as necessary. Syracuse, New York - Guest - 07-26-2015 In anticipation of the upcoming SPAAMFAA convention this coming weekend in Syracuse, I would like to showcase the SFD from 23 years ago. I am organizing another Ladder 13 photo tour on the Saturday afternoon for anyone who wishes to tag along! In 1992 I photographed the entire Syracuse Fire Department for the first time. I just finished scanning these in with a new scanner, may have to redo them a little crisper, but here goes. The Rescue Company ran 4 pieces back then, Rescue 1 was this absolutely awesome 1986 International Paystar 5000/Saulsbury heavy rescue, one of my all time favourite rescues! Unfortunately, it was wrecked in a rollover accident. Syracuse, New York - Guest - 07-26-2015 Rescue 2 was a 1988 Ford/Braun Syracuse, New York - Guest - 07-26-2015 Rescue 3 was this 1981 International Paystar 5000/Saulsbury, that ran as the spare rescue, and was formerly Rescue 1. Dreaded indoor shot, but in those days, I wasn't too picky!! Syracuse, New York - Guest - 07-26-2015 The Rescue Aerial was this 1986 E\-One 135 foot ladder, that is still going strong on the SFD today. Apologize for the poor quality of this photo. Syracuse, New York - Guest - 07-26-2015 Will have some more from 1992 later. Syracuse, New York - Guest - 07-26-2015 Squad 1 ran this 1987 E\-One 2000/500/55 foot.
