The last stop of the day was Asheville Airport to get their new ARFF rig. Once again, I ran into friendly people and a big sunny parking lot. I shot the whole fleet, except for a reserve ARFF rig that's kept in the maintenance shed somewhere else in the airport.

Here's the rig I stopped by to shoot...

That's actually archville fire department small department with two engines I believe just north of sleepy hollow and just south of Ossining on rt 9. Braircliff is a separate department

The Rig had Briarcliffe Manor written on it before Archville, (see delivery shot) So I classify it as Briarcliffe Manor. I guess they sold it to them, would you happen to know when?

Again as I noted - Archville Fire Department and the Scarborough Engine Company of the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department operated as one company until 1971 - see the Scarborough Engine Company history - http://www.engine92.com/history.html. When the state of New York forced the two companies to split in 1971 - Archville keep the Hahn and bought a second hand Ward LaFrance from Ossining to run as the second engine for that district. Briarcliff built a fire house for the Scarborough Engine Company down the road and purchased a new Mack CF pumper for that company to run.

And lastly is this rig. I was at home on Saturday when my boss sends me a text message that says "FDNY rescue truck westbound on I-40 passing the 24 mile marker" I sprang into action and was in hot pursuit. It took me a few minutes, but I finally caught up to the truck at the westbound rest area on I-40. Much to my surprise, it wasn't an FDNY rescue truck at all...but it was a truck that I'd been wanting to shoot for quite some time. This truck formerly ran with Woodruff, SC in Spartanburg County as "Rescue 1." I'd drove all the way to Woodruff last time I was in SC to shoot this rig, only to find the station locked up and nobody in sight. I talked to the driver of the truck, who was gracious enough to let me shoot the truck, and crawl all over and in it looking for specs.

The truck will now be used by Sky View Construction & Engineering Inc. in Labadie, MO. Their primary job is cell phone tower construction and repairs following disasters. The driver said this made the 4th used rescue truck that his company had purchased so far this year. After working side-by-side with firefighters during the Joplin, MO disaster, they saw how useful the rescue trucks were. He and his company decided to pursue used rescue trucks to use in their line of work. One of their other rescue trucks came from somewhere in SC. He thought it was Camdenton maybe? The other two used rescue trucks Sky View purchased out of either Illinois or Missiouri.

All in all, it was a neat find, and I'm so grateful that I got the chance to shoot this truck before it disappeared to Missouri!

This truck itself has an interesting history...

The cab & chassis came from a 1983 Ford C/ALF Commodore pumper that formerly served Inman Mills, SC.

The E\-One rescue body formerly sat on a 1988 Ford F-800 and formerly served an unknown department in Massachusetts.

In 2010, Woodruff arranged the kitbash/refurb of the two rigs into a 1983 Ford C/1988 E\-One heavy rescue. All lights were replaced with LED lights and an LED Roto-Ray was added.

The unlown Mass town would be Marlborough as they used to have a 1988 E\-One rescue on a Ford F-800 chassis

I was ecstatic to get an opportunity to shoot this truck.  That day, I'd heard this truck called anything from "The Mary Kay Express" to "Ole' Peachy".  No matter what angle I took the picture, no picture can truly give this truck's color justice.  It's kind of a beige/tan that leans toward a peachy-pink color.  It was definitely unusual!  Despite all its nicknames, this truck was given glowing reviews by the firefighters about what a good engine it is.

I drove this rig when it was 62-14. They call the color Cadillac Cream.

I'd shot the rest of Caney Branch's fleet in the past, but they were passenger side shots.  I wasn't about to pass up an opportunity with a willing driver to pose them!

As I'm sure all of you remember, former Firepixer Tim from Central Square (NY) FD alerted me of this fire department than ran one of his old engines.  This is the newest addition to their fleet.  And a rather large one at that.  I'm hoping someone can fill in the details for me.
