Yes it was Flemington's rig since new and their FIRST Motorized rig. It was shown in the 100th Anniversery book towing their old steamer... That is long gone.

My Dept (Raritan Boro - Somerset County) has a 1922 American LaFrance that had a towing attachment to the rear also. Speaking to older members they really never noticed it. It is not a towing eye but more of a hitch.

Does anyone know if this was a STANDARD thing back then?

Also Raritan had two semi open cab 700 series engines. A 1947 and a 1958 both were 750 gpm pumps.

LA County disposed of one of these, don't remember how many they bought, earlier this year, and it is sitting at a scrap dealer in Fontana, CA. If anyone is interested in it, PM me and I will give you the info for the dealer.

I've only seen pics of this type of siren on rigs that all seem to be in Southern California. This same siren is also on the Santa Ana tiller that's pictured here.[/quote]

This is what that baby looks like in the open.

I may be wrong, but I believe that the Super Chief was a siren/light combination.

I had a chance this week to call the Harley Davidson dealer about it. One of the principles of the dealership has a weekend and vacation getaway place in upstate New York so he bought it to keep there. The exact locality is something they wouldn't say.

Oklahoma City operated three 1974 ALF Pacemaker 100-foot rear-mount aerial ladder trucks, ALF serial #'s PM-16-3272 through PM-16-3274. Here is a shot of Ladder 14 (unknown which ALF #) taken at the training tower. It was shot very late in the day after I had arrived in OK City after the long drive down from Minneapolis.
