Here are a few rigs from Somerset County, NJ

Bound Brook Engine (Hose) Co 1 operated this 1000 Series ALF. I think it is a 1973 Vintage. This photo shows it slightly modified with a reflective stripe. Photo from 1991.

Bound Brook Relief Co 4 operated this 1000 Series ALF. Company 4 operated this until the early 90's. The company was due to replace the engine and since the town LOST it's ladder company, Co 4 bought a 105 foor Pierce Quint. Ending the service of American LaFrance to this town. The rig was on eBay about a year or so ago. My photo is from 1978.

In Manville, NJ they operated an ALF Aero Chief. Truck 11 was delivered all white as was all Company 1 apparatus.

Later Manville decided to change all units to Red (or Red and White). The ALF was referbed and came back with a new paint job and new lights...

A note - Company 2 was red , and Co 3 was chrome yellow... Company 3 NEVER Switched colors and when Truck 11 was replaced in 1998 the new Simon/LTI came in WHITE!!!

Here is an unusual Pacemaker conversion. San Francisco FD operated a 1974 ALF Pacemaker 85'Snorkel ( I think), that was later converted into a fuel-truck. Fuel 1 carried 2650 gallons of Diesel fuel and 1000 gallons of gas.

Another one I got to examine closely and even sit on in the Relief's firehouse back in the early 1970's while my grandfather attended committee meetings for NJ State Exempts.

This one has a manual transmission which the driver realized he could not back up AFTER he had pulled it out for the pic! No biggie, I put it away for him.

After it was retired from being an engine, it was loaded with 5" and ran as a hose wagon until the early 1990's.
