Laurelton is one of five Fire Departments in Irondequoit, Monroe County, New York

Ah yes, old 165. I remember it well, was one heck of a truck. Wish we had it back.

Sold to a private collector in Vermont who sold it to another private collector, I think in New Jersey....

Picture was taken behind the old firehouse which was torn down in 2003 and replaced in 2004. Pictures of this firehouse in its various versions and the new one in the "Firehouses of New York State" thread.

And now for something completely different:

Mack Buses from the early fifties:

Note the "Mack C" roundel on the back of the bus. and

the handwriting on the builder's photos looks like that on the fire apparatus builder's photos that Frank B posts.

Scroll thru site for other pix

Phil,

When I was in the Army back in the 1950's, yup that long ago, they had Mack buses! I actually drove one.

I wish I had a camera back them. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Banghead' />

Well, there's a pic of a GI driving a GM Army bus out on the west coast. I guess that's "Close, but no cigar."

http://www.classicbusdepot.com/bus-photos/131_0_1_0_C/

When I was in the Army in the 50s we had schoolbus-type buses. (As well as deuces (M135 and 211), 5-tons (M54 and 62), jeeps, 3/4(M37) and a 5/4 (M715) ambo and a big M5 tractor to tow the guns down to the railhead to be shipped out for annual qualification firing.

Thanks for the memories.

Phil, Bklyn.
