Many, many great photos on this thread from some of the best fire apparatus photographers in the business. Philadelphia always did have a very interesting mix of apparatus, some of the older shots are really fascinating. A quick question . . . Philly probably used more of the articulating-boom Squrts than any other department (up here in Syracuse we always favored theTeleSqurt). Is that device (the articulating one) still available from AmericanLaFrance/Snokel/LTI/ whatever they call themselves now? Looks like Philadelphia got their last ones about 1998, and none since. Is that correct?

Chief, my understanding is ALF will only sell a Squrt if it is mounted on one of their chassis. That's why the PFD is purchasing snozzles now. It will be interesting to see how they work out. You are correct, the last squrts were purchased in 1998 when the four 3-D/ALF units were delivered.

Thanks, Jack. I hope you have good luck with the Snozzles . . . we have not had a very good experience with them on our ARFF vehicles but those are quite early units. As a fireground commander, an elevated master stream is always a nice tool to have in your box provided you have the water supply to support it. We got away from the concept on our last three engines, due to budgetary constraints, but we are hoping to include them again on our next round of engines. Stay tuned.

Shortly after the PFD signed the contract with KME for the snozzles, (and when I say shortly, I'm talking a week or two) ALF announced that they would now sell the Snorkel line of products to any chassis mfr.

That sure cajoled ALF into selling the Snorkel again. The only Snorkel product listed on ALF website is the Tele-Squrt.

I spoke yesterday via e-mail with the Ephrata, PA American LaFrance plant and they said they would still build the 54' articulating boom Squrt to order if requested.

A couple years ago If i remember correctly. The Rig electrical system had to be replaced and some damage from the actual fire. It was sent back to KME and Its at the PFD Shop Now because of another non related issue

.......and about 2 weeks ago, one of the mechanics backed it into something (I heard another piece of apparatus but not sure) and totalled the basket. The boom, by the way is a remount, I believe it was originally mounted to Snorkel 22's Century Series ALF.

' />I was told by a Philly FF that the boom moved by it self after the operator set it to the wanted location. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' />He also told me this happened during fire prevention (open house) please let me know if you have correct information.
