[color="#0000FF"]Engine 7's Mack "R" was repaired and returned to the company. The rig had been back in service only a few days when it was involved in a major collision with a bus at Sussex Avenue and Hudson Street while reponding to an alarm, on September 3, 1978. The rig was broadsided by the bus, forcing the pumper to jump the sidewalk and plow into the foundation of a dwelling. The driver of the pumper was injured, as well as two other firefighters who were thrown from the back step. The bus driver and eight passengers were also injured in the crash.

[color="#0000FF"]Engine 7's heavily damaged Mack "R" was repaired and returned to them after a while. The rig remained assigned to Engine 7 until 1981, when it was placed in reserve as a spare.

It was then scrapped some time around 1988.

The photo below shows the Mack "R" after being repaired from the bus crash.

Mike, What's the old piece in the right rear background? I am referring to the engine that appears in the rear of the first pic showing the damage to E7.

Garden State Oldies - e290l103 - 04-16-2008

must defer to Hank on that one.

It's the Mike & Mike Show!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/luxhello.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Luxhello' />

I believe the the rig in the background was an old ALF that was donated to the NFD Historcial Association from West Orange. A guy restored it and stored it with his other rigs, but I don't know whatever happened to it, or if the NFDHA got it back.
