I dont know whether this truck was ever repaired and sold. It was found to have a major defect and immediately taken out of service. And an emergency request was made to aquire their current platform.

I wondered why it was sold. I saw it for sale in Fire Tech I believe. I was being sold with a working Tower. Love the new ladder black over red. I shocked when they kept the older 60ft Pierce Arrow and not this truck with the 100ft Tower as a reserve. Now I know. Keep posting.

Im not really sure what the reason was that Normandy's ladder was sold. It wasn't very old, maybe only a couple years. I think it went somewhere in canada. I can ask someone from there if they know and get back to ya. They run 2 Pierce Enforcer pumpers 4714 and 4724. One of them is dedicated for mutual aid calls. One has a deputy chief that rides the seat on the other. There was some talk about getting another ladder truck, but they have MANY other issues to iron out before they do that. They run THREE ambulances now from their engine house. They are an interesting place right now, as they have part time people that man some of the ambulances. But I'll let you google the Northeast Fire Protection District and let you figure it out.
As for EMS/Fire, Fire/EMS, some entities have done that recently when they have changed their department names. We've got Fire Districts, Fire Departments, a Dept. of Public Safety. I guess it just sounds better to be xxxxx ems and fire protection district than an fire and ems protection district. Many departments ecompass more that then name that is on their trucks (i.e. Metro West Fire District was the Ballwin Fire District . But they cover about a half dozen smaller communities other than ballwin). Central County Fire/Rescue in St. Charles used to be the St. Peters Fire Protection District and The St. Charles Fire Protection District. That can be your answer for the Metro North question as they were Moline up til a few years ago.
As for St. Charles, I don't know if they still have that older Pierce ladder. They did just put in service a new 75ft Pierce ladder, ID 9432. They have been been trying over the past couple years of having 2 ladder trucks. But one or the other was breaking. I beleive this new ladder was a floor model from Pierce.
And I hardly doubt you will see any TDA's on the streets of st. louis.

Matt thanks for the info. I thought I read something a while back that Normandy was under investagation for money issues. I looked at their web site looks decent but yeah three boxes and two pumps, I agree. The ladder was sold for what I suspected, multiple mechanical problems. I hear e-ones are classic for that. We have one thats in the shop more that running calls. Thats the H&L thats supposed to be replaced.

Yep our three have had lots of issues to. Everything has issues but these are a little much. Our Tower even made a trip back to FL for a ladder rebuild at the one year mark. It is four now and still has major issues. Our Pierce-LTI Tower was running strong with only minor age related repairs at 25 years.

yeah, the ladder for your class was the one that belonged to the county academy for several years. Make sure the wheels are blocked, otherwise it will take a nice stroll down the street on ya.

Never knew CFPD or the Monarch "Butterflies" had lime green. Intresting, I loved their retired Pierce Arrow Pumper Tanker Crash Rig, the new one just does not look as tough, they also need real Q's again. Any idea where the old one went?

I don't believe they got rid of the Q's on the new trucks, they are in the bumper. And I don't think its that electronic Q. Something uniqe to Monarch, is that several of their recent apparatus purchases, has the Martin Horn. Which is a german siren. It's no wail or yelp by any means.

The old Pierce Tanker Crash is housed at their HQ (Former house 4) I believe they run it as a reserve piece.

The following photos were taken in 1988. At that time, the department was called the Chesterfield Fire Protection District. The apparatus color and the numbering system was different back then also. Incidentally, the car in the background of the first two shots is my 1978 Pontiac Grand LeMans. I paid $100 for it, fixed it for another $100, drove it for two years and sold it for $250. Those were the days!!!
