Check out the chrome nose, open cab, and rotoray on the windshield. VERY classy! I'm not 100% positive, but I think this is the same rig. Some items have been changed, but many details are the same. I shot this one at South Pittsburg Mountain, TN several years back. They said it was a 750/500. Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - GA_Dave - 05-05-2008 Quote:Hampton, VA had this 1963 Seagrave/Young 90' snorkel. Just a clarification, this rig had nothing to do with Young Fire Equipment. The aerial device on this apparatus was manufactured by the Daybrook Division of the Young Spring and Wire Company in Bowling Green, OH. Seagrave marketed this platform design as the "Eagle". Paul Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - photone - 05-05-2008
All; I spoke to Ray's daughter last night. Ray did very well through the surgury and is making all of his recovery progress points. She's says that Ray must be feeling much better as he is starting to complain about the hospital food. He may go home on wednesday. They are going to get him to start walking around today. I have his home address for those interested, please contact me off of the list.
While I've never had the privilege of meeting Ray, I have heard him spoken highly of on many occasions. Great news that he's doing well and on the road to recovery! Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - firemag - 05-06-2008 Here is a RAY DOYLE update. I spoke with his daughter tonight. Ray is still recovering. However, he now has an infection. Test were run today, and by tomorrow they hope to know what the infection is and how to treat it. They are also working on Ray's blood sugar levels. His daughter also reports he has lost his appetite. No time frame now for his release. I wish I had more, but that's all I have. I think John Friis (Fire175) said to contact him off line for an address for cards. Jerry Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - BA000049 - 05-06-2008 Fairfax City, VA operated this 1974 Oshkosh/American/Grove 85' tower as Tower # 3. Mattson Collection Hey Scott, Get a load of what happened to this piece. You would not reconize it today: 1974 Duplex/American Fire Apparatus/Grove, canopy cab, 85 ft steel rear-mount tandem axle ladder-tower. This was purchased used by the Kimberton Fire Company (Chester County, PA) from the Fairfax City Fire Department in VA were it ran as Tower-3 in 1988. It was first sent to Pierce to have a 4-door Arrow cab installed and have some bodywork done in 1989. It was then sent to LTI to have the ladder worked on. It went into service January of 1991. It went out of service on 5/8/92 when it ran into a telephone pole at Valley Forge's housing. Damage was extensive to the ladder and the bucket had to be replaced and the turntable rebuilt. It was returned to service on 9/3/92. It was sent out for service in 8/98 because one of the fly’s was found to be twisted. It has a 12 KW generator. It was sold to Parkesburg (Chester County, PA) in 11/02 for $69,000. Placed into service by them on 4/7/03. Still in service at Parkesburg - in rough shape. Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - FDSafetyMentor - 05-06-2008 Here's the Great Falls rig as it sat in Winchester on Friday of last week before the Apple Blossom Parade. He located the rig in TN and brought her home for restoration, including replacing the beacon with the correct Roto-Ray (luckily he owns the company, so parts are easy to come by!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ). I was lucky enough to get a ride on the rig back in '05 all around the county. What a fantastic truck, and LOUD!! Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - photone - 05-07-2008 And Herndon's rig. These are indeed beautiful rigs and yep, they sound just as sweet as they look!
