We visited the Atlanta shops to make arrangements to photograph the new pumper. I found these new deliveries....

I wasn't able to get specs on these two, but they are going to be mini pumpers for the parking decks in the Atlantic Station complex. They were built by Southeastern Fire Equipment on Ford F-550 chassis.

Wow! Looks like you had a nice day out! Wish I'd been there for the Barrow County and Winder stuff as well as the new Atlanta engine in front of "some" ballpark. Isn't that where the Sox play?

This & That from Here & There - GA_Dave - 06-12-2009

Actually, that was two days out. We did a third day, but those shots are still in the camera. Maybe one of these days, you'll come down from the hills and we'll shoot some more stuff around here. As far as who plays in that ball park, I don't have a clue, but they say it's owned by some rich guy named Ted........

If that's a 2003 model year, only six years ago, any idea why the original purchaser sold it so quick? I know that in some independent fire companies of Pennsylvania they trade often so that they always have something that is new and get the maximum resale value.

Sorry, I didn't get that info. Maybe one of our members from that area can elaborate.

Southaven, MS sold it to Fire Trucks Plus in 2007 or 2008, reportedly because it was simply too big for them. Middletown had starting specing out a new rescue-pumper and wanted a Quantum to match the rest of their frontline fleet. They were made aware of this rig and saw that it was close to what they wanted. Rathing than going new, they opted to save by purchasing the slightly used rig in 2008 and sent it back to Pierce for modifications and to be repainted.

I thought they called it Wrigley Field South, That's what we call it!

I don't think that it was too big for them, because they replaced it with the same body, basically, except the new one is under an Arrow XT. At the time Southaven had it, the rig had everything you could possibly put on it and from what I've been told by a couple of buddies, it stayed out of service more than it stayed inservice. So they traded it back in to Pierce on the new Arrox XT. Due to all of the bells and whistles it had a lot of different problems.

Thanks. That does make sense.

Thanks for the additional. It didn't jive with what the Middletown guys told me when I shot it - typical heresay/second hand info. Pierce must have dumped it on Fire Trucks Plus, then.

This & That from Here & There - Guest - 06-15-2009

Anyway, if it is like their other 2 Quantums, it will also see plenty of "down time" in Middletown...

The Commish posted a Ron Bogardus shot of this rig in the New York State thread, now serving at Schoharie, NY. Here's a shot of it when at Delta, PA.
