Battalion 151 was the on scene commander for this exercise.

Most of you won't recognize this rig, but it (and an identical twin) is somewhat notable to firebuffs in Phoenix. This is a 1992 IHC/E-One Trident ambulance with pumping capabilities(!). The two of them were purchased as an experiment similar to ladder tenders, but as pumper tenders (I forget the exact term used at the time). They were equipped as full ALS ambulances, but with a tank/pump combination that allowed them to function as engine companies at small fires. I seem to recall they were 250gpm/250gwt.

Anyway, the long and short of it was that the experiment was discontinued and the units have floated around for the past 20 years in a variety of uses. The last thing I knew, one unit went to the on-duty fire investigator at Station 8 as a mobile investigation unit, complete with tank and pump still intact for use at fire scenes where there might be a flare up during the investigation, eliminating the need to have an engine company there for hot spots. I think the other one was stripped of it's tank and pump and has been used as either a spare support rig (tech rescue, etc...) or spare Ladder Tender around the City. I have no idea what this rig was being used for yesterday, but if I had to guess, a Phoenix Ladder Company was probably running it as their LT. Just a guess, though.

I wish I were more dialled into what Phoenix is up to. Unfortunately what I get in Phoenix is usually just luck.

I did manage to catch a better photo of Engine 192 over the Holidays.

Do you know if it's the "new" Striker 6x6 or the existing one? I assume this is for Attack 19, replacing their 8x8 E\-One Titan?

Looks like it will be assigned to Foam 3. Here's a photo:

Hmmm, they must have done some moving around. I show Foam 1 having a 2006 Striker, Foam 3 having a 2007 and Foam 2 having a 2011, all 8x8's. Maybe one is in reserve now. The article says that the new 6x6 will join 2 8x8's. Interesting.

I haven't ever heard of them getting a fifth heavy crash rig, so maybe they took the old F3 and made it Attack 19, which would be replacing the 2005 E\-One Titan 8x8 at Attack 19.
