Did the guys from Richmond like the mini concept? do they find the new "midis" too big? I spoke witha few guys fromSyracuse about their concept and wondered how Richmond liked theirs...

Most didn't like them as they were too cramped. Driver, Officer and one member in the front seat! They had to dress out once on the scene, other companies that came in behind them were ready to go and took the fire. They would have been OK if it had only been two members in the front seat. Good use for brush trucks as long as you didn't get off the hard area and into some soft ground. They would sink down. They were still too high for most parking garages, even without the regular bar lights and re position booster reel.

Actually is it a MIDI not a mini. It has a 1000 gpm, pump 4 wheel drive and was designed to get into areas that the larger Quints, Pumpers could not get to during snow or ice conditions. Plus some properties have narrow gates at their drive ways, being built years back when we ran smaller hose wagons and could get into the driveways. This rig is in an area the has a lot of these properties and the folks don't want to or will not alter the entrances. Some folks have, but there others that still live like they did back in the 1940's and 1950's. It will also run EMS and other calls that do not require a Quint apparatus.
