Frank,

This rig was not purchased by the Philadelphia, PA Fire Department. The PFD never purchased any rigs manufactured by Sanford.[/quote]

I have that rig as being from Philadelphia NY, in Jefferson County.

Marc,

You are correct. This rig was first assigned to Engine 43. It was reassigned to Engine 38 in June 1980.

I remember this rig quite well from when i was a kid growing up on the Palmyra side of the Taconey-Palmyra Bridge! On clear nights i could hear this rig as clear as a bell across the river going out on runs.................Memories <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />

About a year and a half ago, one of these rigs was sitting in a used truck lot on Route 130, just south of the Fairview section of Camden.

Anyone know what happened to the 2 (?) Philly KME Towers they didn't accept after delivery ?

Philadelphia, PA - Guest - 01-15-2007

You mean this one? I heard ONE was built and lettered and REJECTED due to funds. The second I did not think make it to build. Or KME might have been able to use or sell it since it was on the line.

Philadelphia, PA - R1SmokeEater - 01-15-2007

That's the one- I heard it didn't pass the acceptance tests ?

Philadelphia, PA - Ladder 68 - 01-15-2007

The story, or version I heard, had it being returned to KME on a Sunday by wrecker due to either acceptance test failure or repeat problems. Just a thought.
