Station 1 was my last Knoxville stop planned for the way up north, with others planned for on the way back to Georgia.  Engine 1 was on a call and Ladder 1 was at a PR function, with neither one expected to return soon.  After shooting Rescue 1, I got in the car, closed the door, and the bottom dropped out.  I drove through heavy thunderstorms all the way to Corbin, KY before it cleared up.  I encountered no more rain until the last five miles of the trip home.

Richmond, KY is a career department operating from four stations.  My first stop was Station 1, which had empty bays.  Next was Station 3, but the quint was gone.  On to Station 2, but Engine 2 was not there.  I passed by Station 1 on the way to Station 4, still empty.  Finally, Engine 4 was home.  They didn't have a clue where everyone else was.

I spent the rest of Wednesday and part of Thursday morning in Lexington, hitting a total of 9 of their stations.  I was very impressed by the members of this FD.  At every station, the entire crew came outside, enthusiastic to help out and ask questions about my hobby.  Very proud to show off their apparatus, posing them exactly as I asked, like they had done it many times before.  I have found guys like this in the past, here and there, but this was EVERY member I saw.  In about 4 hours time, I shot the 14 rigs I wanted, at 9 stations scattered all around the city.
