Pierce and KME

Los Angeles Fire Dept - Guest - 07-09-2014

here is the info on the bids. Pierce was 3.9 mill for 4 trucks with a 300-330 day delivery  KME was 4.08 mill for  4 trucks with a 320-360 day delivery time. I was told there were 2 other bids that were thrown out, one because it did not meet la city's specs and the other was tossed because of excessive price. the city has opened a 4 day window to rebid the process on  7-18-14 and closes end of business day 7-21-14

Some vintage pics of LAFD Air Ops. These were shot in the early to mid 80's at Van Nuys Airport.

Fire 3

This met an unhappy end. It crashed while transporting a juvenile girl to Children's Hospital. The following link is a memorial page for the 3 LAFD members that perished that day.

Fire 2

Taken at Station 88 in Sherman Oaks.

Los Angeles Fire Dept - Guest - 07-27-2014

Fire 5

One of the Command ships.

Fire 6

Another Command Ship.

Engine 63

Protects portions of Venice.

According to the shop #, this is a '63 model, but that sounds too early. I'm leaning towards '68 or so.

Corrections welcome.

Rescue 82

Stationed in Hollywood.

Very much outside their district, they are seen here just southeast of Downtown on scene of a fire.

LAFD Engine 54

LAFD Boat 4
"Bethel F. Gifford"
1961 Albina 9000 gpm.

Currently the oldest boat in the active fleet.

Los Angeles Fire Dept - Guest - 07-27-2014

LAFD Boat 2
"Ralph J. Scott"

Built in 1925 and retired 2003. Easily the longest serving piece of apparatus in LAFD history. I believe they got a good return on their $214,000 investment.
