Interesting... Did this year engine come with those lollipop lights?

I have seen all kinds of rear flashers on this model. I am unsure if these were factory installed or not.

I am aware of several Century Series engines in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area that came with factory installed rotating beacons on the cab when lightbars were starting to become the norm. These engines also had a variety of lights on the rear as well.

I guess the lights were the choice of the department that ordered the engine.

Probably depending on what works best and who is spec'ing the rig

and what is new or current at that time

The two photos herein illustrates this

Very good gentleman, thanks for the replies. Ours has the rota beams, but they are a pain to repair.

American LaFrance Apparatus - GA_Dave - 04-01-2009

Quote:Correct; this statement covers it all. We've seen every light possible on the back of a fire truck...Federal Juniors, #16s, BR-2s, #14s, Unity and Dietz sealed beams, Dietz (shown here on this ALF) and DoRay lollipops, Whelen Rota-Beams, etc., and so forth. Until the 1991 version of NFPA 1901 came out, only one red light (forward facing) was required on an apparatus!

The VFD I ran with in WNY from 1982-1986 ran two pumpers (1959 and 1973) that had NO upper rear warning lights. I tried to persuade them to add lights to both for the entire time I was there, but it was no use. The '73 served that way until its retirement in 2006. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Banghead' />

Do the federal 17 series lights have motors that rotated the opposite way? I wanted to have my lights turn opposite ways, then put a federal 174 super beacon once i find one to really spice it up. I still have to trim those lights to the roof's contour. Any suggestions? Also...Is there a way of adjusting these spotlights so they work? I tried everything.

I think the wires get flipped + and - would rotate clockwise and if you flip the wires - and + then it would go counter clockwise. I think this was true for most rotators back a few years... Since some rigs were REVERSE POLARITY

This is a 191? to 192?'s early ALF tractor that I shot a couple of years ago. It served at Rail City in Sandy Pond NY. No idea to where it served before.

I know photo requests go in the proper forum, but I will post it anyway within this forum as it might get more exposure. Hopefully the mods don't move it.

We just found it here in Arizona on saturday.

Thanks

Where is this truck now? This looks like the 589. This was engine Company 1 in Syosset. My farther use to take this truck to my school when I was in first grade. My brother and I would play on this truck ever time we went to the fire house.

This is what it looked like when it was in Syosset. The sister truck in behind it. That was 5816.

Thanks for posting this. I have not seen that truck in over 20 years.
