The folks at the Orlean VFD in Orlean, Virginia (Fauquier County) were wonderful hosts to me today for some apparatus photographs. Orlean is in a rural part of the county outside of Warrenton.

Fauquier County is part of the Washington County Council of Government's (COG) and are designated in COG as "11". Orlean is also Station 11 in Fauquier County.

First up is Wagon 11, a 1997 Pierce Saber 1250/1000 with job number EA715.

Engine 11 is a 2005 International 7400 4x4/2006 Pierce 1250/500/30 with job number 17534.

Note the turret on the front bumper which can be operated from inside of the cab.

Engine 11 replaced a 1971 Ford C/Oren 750/500 that was originally owned by Strasburg, Virginia. The Ford C was purchased by a member of Orlean and I was told that it is now kept at a hanger at the Manassas, Virginia airport.

Tanker 11 is this 1997 Freightliner/Pierce 1250/3000 with Pierce job number 12741.

Brush 11 is the newest addition at Orlean. It is a 2007 Ford F450/2008 CET/Singer with 165/200/8.

Like Engine 11, this brush truck also has the remote turret on the front bumper which is well liked by the FD.

You will notice it is marked Brush 1111 - "11" for the COG designation and "11" for Orlean.

One BLS transport unit is at Orlean. Rescue 11 is a 2002 Ford F450/Wheeled Coach.

The department also operates Utility 11, a 2005 Dodge pick up and Gator 11, a John Deere.

I will wrap up Orlean with a couple of station shots...

Main station where Engine 11, Brush 11, and Utility 11 are housed.

And finally, a rear view of the main station that shows the house siren that still operates.

Sure looks like it. We looked all over it and that has helped us pick Hackney to build our new light rescue. Hopefully it will be complete by July.

Typo on the year of Tanker 11 - should be a 2001. Thanks Jerry.

Mike's last posts in this thread were from the Orlean VFD in Fauquier County, VA. Fauquier's county seat is located in Warrenton, and is home to the volunteer fire company of the same name. WVFC has run an impressive fleet of Pierces for many years, and this month, they took delivery of twin Pierce Dash's. Painted in the department's usual solid-red livery, they're designated Engine 1 and Wagon 1.

The rig posted above replaces this neat short-wheelbase Lance, who's disposition has not yet been determined.

I know that Scott Mattson always enjoys big water, so here's a photo of their tanker, an impressive 2003 Dash tanker with 3000 gallons of aqua. It replaced a similar sized tanker which new sees service in Mangohick, Virginia.

I was told by a member of the company they are keeping the Pierce Lance you have posted and getting rid of the newer Pierce Dash, they can get more money for the newer truck and they basically replaced both of them any way. Just a thought...
