Where is this truck now? This looks like the 589. This was engine Company 1 in Syosset. My farther use to take this truck to my school when I was in first grade. My brother and I would play on this truck ever time we went to the fire house.

This is what it looked like when it was in Syosset. The sister truck in behind it. That was 5816.

Thanks for posting this. I have not seen that truck in over 20 years.
This rig is now privately owned and is kept outside of Shreveport, LA. It came to the recent North Texas Muster and drafted out of the pond to feed an ALF 900 Series Aerial. The truck also picked up the "Longest Distance Traveled" Award.

That scares the hell out of me. A good friend of mine was killed in a line of duty death by that very same type of

elbow fitting blowing off under hydrant pressure when it separated from the piping at the bumper pan.

This particular rig served the Borough of Naugatuck (CT) when it replaced by a 1947 ALF mid-mount. At some point in time the rig was sold to Prospect who uses this rig as a parade piece.
Was the Century cab added on to this after a refurb? It looks like it may have been a 700 or 900. The cab itself is at Keystone Fire Apparatus in Kennedy Twp., Pa.
Mike, it is a 700 series, possibly a 1947. It was refurbed at the American LaFrance service center on Neville Island I believe in the 80's. they put on a newer 100' aerial, detroit diesel, and an Allison automatic. They also added the Century cab too. It was just replaced last summer by a Smeal 105' rear mount quint. Just before delivery, the Detroit blew. I know the borough was to sell it.

It was sold a couple years ago and is now serving in Munhall. Monroeville No. 5 had the last open cab Century that was made. It was delivered in 1982. It now serves in Wall, PA, not far from Monroeville.
