This & That from Here & There - GA_Dave - 11-01-2009 Quote:Awful, just awful...what a shame to do this to a wonderful old truck! Quote:Gorgeous, simply beautiful...this is what an old Seagrave is supposed to look like! Purist! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hysterical.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> A lot of what this boils down to is the difference between a rig that served in Massachusetts versus one that served in North Carolina. RUST. The Concord rig has NONE, never did. The other one was not as fortunate. As I recall, TJ said that it wasn't in condition to be restored so he did it his way. Since there are so many surviving original or restored to original rigs just like it, I really don't see the issue. It wasn't like it was the only rig of its kind and he made a monster truck out of it! This & That from Here & There - chfc14 - 11-02-2009
<img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/offtopic.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> First of all, Dave thanks for having my back. Secondly, Steve, this "wonderful old truck" was going to the crusher. It had rot holes you could put your head through, and the driveline was shot. So, Steve, I'd really like to know what I should've done; crush it? Well, clearly I didn't do that. I'll tell you the same thing I've told other "critics"; if you don't like it, DON'T LOOK AT IT. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> (Sorry, I'll use my inside voice now.) Trust me, you will not hurt my feelings at all. OK, rant over, and let this regularly scheduled thread continue. Later, TJ <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/stirpot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> This & That from Here & There - GA_Dave - 12-30-2009 I finally got out and shot some rigs, finishing up the roll of film from the day trip to Alabama. Here are the rest of those shots. Dan was back down here for the holidays, so we hit a few places, but the weather wasn't always the best. Covington now runs three of these rigs, two from Station 1 and the third from Station 2. Ladder 2 was purchased in 2001. They had just received three of these rescue pumpers. Squad 11, Walker County, GA 2009 KME Predator SS 1500/750 GSO-7507 This & That from Here & There - GA_Dave - 12-30-2009 They have also purchased this used KME aerial. Ladder 6, Walker County, GA 1996 KME Firefox 1750/400/75' GSO-2338 x-Locust, NC This & That from Here & There - GA_Dave - 12-30-2009 From there, we headed farther north into Tennessee. We stopped at quite a few stations and saw a bunch of cool rigs to shoot, but could not find anyone to pull them outside. We found a Hahn and an Aerialscope at one place, a PemFab/E-One and a Mack CF at another, and a third place that had a couple Maxims and a tandem-axle WLF that may have come from Stoneboro, PA. Our last stop proved more fruitfull. Engine 902, Powells Crossroads, TN 2001 GMC/E-One 1250/1000 There were no numbers to be found on this one. It may be an older body remounted on this chassis. The driver said that had bought it used and he didn't know the history. This & That from Here & There - GA_Dave - 12-30-2009 The last rig on the roll..........
