Federal Q2B

Philadelphia, PA - Guest - 08-08-2012

Its a Q .. You can see it on the bumper.

Philadelphia, PA - Juice - 08-08-2012

Question A) Did KME buy the Snozzles directly from SNOZZLE, I thought Pierce bought the entire line?

Question <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> What's the story with the single White LED on the front bumper of the Snorkle?

Thanks,

Trav!

Looks like a traffic light preemptor to me.

Philadelphia, PA - jquest6368 - 08-09-2012

The single white LED replaced an oscilating white light...several of the other red halogen lights were also replaced with LED's. Philly does not use a traffic preemper system.

Philly does have pre-emption. Parts of Broad street and Market Streets have pre-emption. I believe the white led on the front bumper is a new led pre-emption light.

Too me for some reason it just doesnt sound like a Q- Thank you.

Engine 58

2003 American LaFrance

Philadelphia, PA - Bmott70 - 08-14-2012

This restored 1950 Autocar is currently being stored at Engine 58.

Philadelphia, PA - Guest - 08-15-2012

In the video of Engine 211 acting as E-43 from the bottom up (Bumper to Light bar and roof)...

1) driver side corner of bumper - Federal Q2B siren (The one you hear in the video)

2) a set of 1-Red and 1-Clear Haligen Flashers each side (4 total - 2 Red/2 Clear)

3) Headlights with a headlight flasher kit on them (4 Headlights)

4) Turn signals

5) Federal Vector Light Bar

6) Roof above the jumpseats - appears to have a P.A. System of sometype added.

As for the light on the Snorkle... it does appear to be an "Opticom" style pre-empting light.

Just curious as to where the old E-58 Autocar was found before it was restored? Was it always in the PFD's hands, or was it found in a junkyard?

Marc,

It was always in the PFD's hands. Not too much work was done to it. The rig was assigned to Engine 58 brand new and spent it's entire career there, so it didn't get too beat up. The Autocars were the backbone of the department for a number of years. I'm glad they held onto it.
