It was built on a Mack chassis by the Florida Forestry Commission. When I shot it, I was thinking that it was similar to a rig I had shot many years ago at the Georgia Forestry annual show in Perry, GA. When I compared the pics, it's the same rig, but the 250 GPM pump, 5 gallon Class A foam system and booster reel have been removed. This rig has a 1000 gallon tank.[/quote] I don't see any rear view mirrors! So, on the way back north, pulled off to the side to grab a photo does anyone have info on this truck? Relics - bige1998 - 05-13-2008 Just north of Manning, SC once again along the northbound side of I-95 was these next two trucks that I believe are from Albemarle, NC. Not many ARFF rigs run by police agencies and the color is right. I'll do a bit more digging when I get home and see what else I can come up with. At one time, they ran this nice 1973 FWD PB-44068 1250/750. The information I have is that it originally came from Kings Park, New York and was then sold to Shenandoah Farms, Virginia (Corrections welcome). From Shenandoah Farms, it went to North Warren to run as Engine 10. This photo was taken in July of 1998. Mike Sanders Ashburn, VA Relics - mnsand - 05-19-2008 Here is the FWD from North Warren today... Several weeks ago while going through Front Royal, my 10 year old son spotted the FWD in a parking lot of a used car/truck/antique dealer just off of the I81 exit to Front Royal. Obviously, the pump has been removed. Sorry for the box on the front bumper - it was filled with bathroom tiles, soaked with water, and very heavy. The box would have fallen apart if I moved it. Relics - Guest - 05-19-2008 One of hundreds of Crowns that once served LAFD, a few of which are still left rotting in a field behind FS 88. Relics - Guest - 05-23-2008 Went back to check on Gary's 1949 ALF at the former city garage and it's still there minus the officer's side door. I was told the city has no plans to do anything with it and due to the on-going budget problems I doubt they will anytime soon. Waiting to hear from someone at city hall about finding it a better home, the FD doesn't have any say in the matter unfortunately. |
