In December 2013, Renton Fire and Emergency Services placed two new aid units into service at Station 12 and Station 13.  These are 2014 International 4400/Braun NW vehicles.  Aid 12 is shown here.

Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety also recently placed two new aid units into service.  They are also built by Braun NW on 2014 International TerraStar chassis.  Aid 80 is shown here in what appears to be new new trend in their department's graphics.  Their newest engine is also black over red.  The second aid unit will be with Aid 81.

What's the designation "Aid Unit" signify?

Quote:What's the designation "Aid Unit" signify?
In King County, an aid unit responds to Basic Life Support incidents.  They are staffed with Firefighter-EMT's.  A Medic Unit would respond to Advanced Life Support incidents.  These are the more life threatening incidents.  Medic Units are staffed with two Paramedics who are part of the King County Medic One program.

Thanks, always interesting to hear the local vernacular for different styles of units.

The new Ladder 6, assigned to Seattle Fire Department's Queen Ann Station 8, was on display at Seattle Center on April 5th with most of her compartment doors open.  I'll start with the tractor and proceed counter clockwise around the trailer.

The diamond plate boxes on top...the left one contains small hand tools, on the right are shovels, rakes and brooms.
