Fairfax County VA - Fire28 - 01-10-2011

I'm working on getting them.

26's ride looks AMAZING!

I can tell you, the lack of room for the officer in the XT versus the Velocity and the Quantum is VERY noticeable. The XT is the last remaining 96" wide cab that Pierce makes, and the loss of those couple of inches make a lot of difference, especially when the officer's trying to don an airpack.

Just my humble opinion after weighing the good and the bad of all of the Pierce cabs.

I fully understand your point Taylor, as a big guy myself, I would like the extra few inches......however, and there is always a however. However, in todays day of safety while responding, you can't be belted in while donning an airpac....that should probably wait until your on-scene. I love raised roof cabs but come on they can promote unsafe practices while enroute.

I do this routinely. Simply don your turnouts, sit in the seat, put your airpack straps across your shoulders, then put your seatbelt on. You can still be ready to go on arrival without sacrificing safety.

As for catching a fire while your enroute back from another call, then those are the times where you should don your gear on arrival, as ever unpopular as that option might be!

If the officer was doing his job, we wouldn't have to have these conversations. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Banghead' /> And yes; I've been on both sides of this issue, and do not believe that legislating safety makes us one bit safer. Just one man's opinion. Cheers, TJ <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/stirpot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Stirpot' />

Ah, the voice of reason. It seems that we as a fire service do more training hours than we've ever done, but somehow just can't grasp a simple concept such as this. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/shrug.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Shrug' /> We have guys coming out of rookie school with college degrees (yep; I've got one too.), but they need a widget to tell them to put their seatbelt on. Just plain pathetic. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Icon_crazy' /> And again, just one man's opinion. Thanks for tolerating my mini rant, I'll crawl back under my rock now. It is a free world and anyone can post anywhere they want. And it is a thread not a tread.

I think we should be welcoming a free and open exchange of information and pictures. In my view anyone posting picutres or information they have is a good thing.

The Ahrens Fox, this is the third time you've publicly flamed Good2Go, in direct violation of the board rules:

Flaming of any member, or public criticism of board rules will not be tolerated, and appropriate warning actions, including suspension and removal from the board will be taken.

Please consider this your first and only warning on this matter. Please take any issues you have with another member to PM's.
