Relics - Guest - 05-23-2008 At the Gary Fire/Police training center at the old NIKE missile site on 35th, found a 1969 Mack(for sale by a member of the airport crew) and 2 of their retired crash rigs. 1969 Mack 1500/500 x-Lake Ridge and x-Black Oak VFD Relics - mnsand - 05-23-2008 This old Seagrave engine is sitting in the Fauquier County yard in Warrenton, Virginia. It originally started out as an engine for the Mount Vernon, Virginia VFD in Fairfax County. It became a Fairfax County engine when the county took over operations at Mount Vernon. After serving in Fairfax County, it went to Little Fork, Virginia. From Little Fork, to Fauquier County who added the large generator. Sorry the shot is not great.....best possible angle. Relics - bcfd424 - 05-25-2008 Found these three old brush trucks sitting behind Steele Creek FD Station 2 just outside Charlotte. Two were lettered for West Mecklenburg FD and one was lettered for Steele Creek FD. Steele Creek has one similar to it so I assume they are using them for parts. Relics - GA_Dave - 05-25-2008 Quote:About the gary rig are you sure its a 1949 it looks like a 800 series and they were not built that eairly? I don't know the year of that rig, but it is a 700 Series. It has been upgraded with compartmented rear fenders and quad headlights, but all other indications point towards it being a 700. Their serial numbers begin with the last two digits of the year and then a number series if they got more than one of a particular apparatus. Thus the second pumper in a series from 2008 would be 082. In this case, it appears that the once proud rigs was the first of that type in 1949. It looks like Paradise! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I see wonderful stuff in the background from all angles. Please tell me you have more photos. Relics - photone - 05-27-2008 Ran up on this rig last Saturday, sitting smack dab in the middle of 'Downtown Chester '(Va). late30s/early 40s Mack E 500/200(?), possibly a former Richmond, Va piece. I looked high and low, and the rig had no markings what so ever. The rig's sitting hard by a shed, making a proper 3/4 view impossible to get. |
