THINGS FROM MY COLLECTION - msm618 - 07-03-2012

The IH B-series truck grille appears to be a late-production feature on the FB's, as well.

Tanker 6 1976 Diamond Reo body is a 1947 Mack 750-1000
1. Not a Mack body

2. Not a 1947-era body design

3. Open pump indicates old body/pump panel removed, new body seems to be built around the pump housing

4. Boonsboro was a basic 2 engine vfc until the 1970's, I am positive this was a used purchase, the ? is did the rig come as is, or did BVFC have this done?

I've been going to Boonsboro for 20 yrs., and never met anybody who could tell me. The tanker seems to have gone after delivery of the 83 Ford/Pierce.

FDNY bought-closed cab Firebrands. One was assigned to 82 Engine during Dennis Smith's time there.

Just conjecture, but if this were an IH chassis, I would think a big six like IH's 450 or 549FTV would be the powerplant.
The sixteen Firebrand pumpers delivered to FDNY in 1960 were powered by International V-549 engines.

I don't know of any other Firebrand or Fireball cab-forwards that had the International grille, other than the five from DC.

Any info on the truck in the picture Doc? have never seen that one before. Do you have anything else from Boonsboro to post in a different topic?

Thanks, Dave. The Wauk's must have been a special order for DC.

Scott - I may be wrong, but that looks like a Boyer emblem under the front door at the stepwell.
