Ford C Series Chassis Fire Apparatus - Shoe - 08-17-2007
Engine 302, Tiltonsville, OH Ford C/American Fire Apparatus 750/750
This rig started out in 1972 as "No. 2". It was red and was the first non-ALF rig that Tiltonsville had bought in many years. The original lettering matched the ALFs with "T.V.F.D. No. 2" on the door and "Tiltonsville" on the cowling. This shot is in it's second life after it had been re-habbed the first time. There was a lot of Baltimore and Wheeling buffing going on there at the time which brought on the white and orange color scheme. It has been re-habbed again since. It became "302" as part of an ad-hoc county numbering system which gave Tiltonsville the 300 series of numbers. There was no dispatch system at the time and each station handled their own dispatch. Tiltonsville's FCC call letters were KDQ 302. Yorkville (100) was also doing some dispatching for Tiltonsville at the time. To avoid confusion, this rig was re-numbered as 303 in the next re-hab. Since that time, Jefferson county has installed a county 911 system and Tiltonsville became Station #73. I don't know if this rig is still around, but I imagine it would be Engine 7312 or 7313 under the new system. I was 7 when this rig was delivered and Tiltonsville had an open house. It was the first rig that I ever climbed on and I've been climbing on them ever since. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/BananaMan.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Ford C Series Chassis Fire Apparatus - hoss - 08-17-2007 Thomaston, CT Ford/FMC - 2 point of interest - a lot of these old Fords have been on e-bay lately and Hallmark is making a Ford/? holiday tree decortation. ala Chicago FD colors.
