Chicago Fire Department - karl4700 - 08-11-2010 I believe the photo posted above was Engine 41, the boat in Door County WI is Engine 37 (the most recent one to go out of service). Chicago Fire Department - Guest - 08-11-2010
Anyone know which of the 2 boats this one is? Last I heard, there was one in Wisconsin. Is this that one?
The boat posted above is the Former Chicago Fire Department (Engine #37) Fire Boat Joseph Medill Built 1946 Dimmensions 92' x 23' Built By: Bay Ship Building Sturgeon Bay, WI Location is Escanaba, MI. She was purchased to be stripped and sunk off Milwaukee as a dive attraction. The State of WI, inspected her and said no way due to enviromental hazards. So there she has sat since at least 2004-2005. Kris Chicago Fire Department - Guest - 08-12-2010 I remember being at Navy Pier in the early 90's and the Joseph Medill was still in service. The guys assigned to her were pretty cool to talk to. Chicago Fire Department - karl4700 - 08-12-2010 Kris, good catch, I had the boats mixed up. Thanks for the correction. Chicago Fire Department - Guest - 08-14-2010 I was able to get some decent shots of the soon to be extinct engine 58. They were doing a demo at the air and water show....A replacement boat is well under construction...who knows..maybe this is it's last water show appearance.. Chicago Fire Department - Guest - 08-18-2010 A photo of the air sea rescue demo from this year's airshow Chicago Fire Department - Guest - 08-18-2010 Hard to get a clear shot with all the water spray Chicago Fire Department - Guest - 08-18-2010 Ok who is gonna make it to FRI next weekend, stop by the Breathing Air Systems booth and say hi. Gonna try to get some fire while up there! |
