Don't remember where this was, I think it was a used apparatus dealership on LI? Photo from around 1992. [/quote] I didn't expect to see this here.... This Engine, a 1974 Ford/Young Custom did belong to my department until around 1992 when it was replaced by an E\-One <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> At one time we had 3 engines, two tankers, and a Saulsbury Rescue that were all built on a Ford C series chasis..... It looked pretty good with all the apparatus in their bays as you drove by the fire station........ Some referred to our department as "The land of the Ford" This engine was unique in that it's power train was an 8v-71 Detroit diesel with an Allison 5 speed automatic transmission. The cab was purchased I believe with a cat engine and we had that removed and the Detroit and Allison dropped in......This truck truely had power! It had plates over the C8000 logos on the door that read "Custom Power" but the both ened up falling off over the years....It had a 1000 gpm pump ,1000 gallons of water and was a workhorse and everybody was sorry to see it go....... Whoever bough this truck got a great pumper.... Somewhere I have a full color fold-out sales brochure from Young that featured this truck...... I really have wanted to find this and when I do, I'll have to scan and post it....... Thanks for posting the photo.... It brings back memories.....
