Garden State Oldies - tcosgrovejones - 12-06-2008 Here is a 1952 ALF I hauled from Paulsboro NJ last night to Rixelyville, Va. Sorry for the Bad pic but it was dark by the time I got it chained down. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I also don't know if it was original to Paulsboro but it was in Cherry Shape. When I visited Paulsboro years ago, that truck was in the process of being restored. I suppose it was their piece originally. I was hoping to go back and photograph it, but it seems they didn't love it enough to keep it! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Garden State Oldies - e290l103 - 12-07-2008 Garden State Oldies - e290l103 - 12-07-2008 This is the one from Neptune Engine. The original Century cab from this rig, removed when it was refurbed, was placed on this rig. It was originally From Lebanon, NJ and the was sold to Sea Bright. I dont know for sure the timeline of what dept. had the work done, but this is the end result. When I shot the dept. in 1996 I was told that this refurbed rig from Oliver Byron was wrecked in a roll over accident in the early-mid 1990's[/quote] My Father helped design this rig in 1970. He was Asst Chief of Lebanon. It was a 1970 900 Series rig with 1250 Pump - High Pressure and 1000 Gallon Water tank. The 900 cab had some 1000 series extras added like the metal "belt" under the head lights and ALF threw in the Fender Steps at that time as well. Due to a low opening the beacon location was modified to fit. I have only seen one other like this and that was Atlanta's Airport ALF. The rig went through a referb in 1987 or 1988 I think and the Century Cab was added. Also during the referb, the left side went from a 3/4 side ( had a LONG Tool compartment that ran under the hard suction.) to a high side Compartment Configuration. Here is the ORGINIAL look of the rig back in the mid 1970's from the town's 4th of July parade. And one other shot after the Referb... |
