Absolutely!

I posted a cover photo of book in that link/Amazon....also, always wondered about this one- in Pat's book, there is a couple photos of a big warehouse job in which it looks like Ladder-16 had one of the 1st (then) brand new E\-One rearmounts. The pix show the fly section of ladder melted off and on the ground in the snow !?

Boston Fire Department - edburke - 03-26-2012

Yes, Boston routinely used the aerials on the Seagraves and Maxims to vent. They would push through a window and then up through the roof. The aluminum aerials ended that practice. The fire was in the Readville section of the city sometime around 1984.

And last one on disc, Engine-20. Thanx to Bill D for his Boston pix!

Does anyone have the history of the Sutphen Quint? Interesting purchase for Boston. Thanks, Rick

The ladder company in the station was disbanded as a result of the Proposition 2-1/2 cuts, and the residents made noise....this was to appease them.

Ed,

Yup, Ex-Ladder 17 is still in service in N. Hampton. Just had major rehab and repair. Saw it with mine own eyes a few weeks ago.

New Haven (CT) runs a similar rig. The rig, equipped with a 65' aerial appeased the residents of the East Shore neighborhood. The residents complained that the nearest ladder company was too far away. The city has never used it as a ladder company, but occasionaly uses it as an elevated master stream.

I worked that call in A-4, with Richie Kendall. Responded all the way from BCH on the 3rd. That was a good job, but the building was hard for apparatus to reach due to a sloping, curved driveway. Believe it went to a 5th. We were there til shift change. Good 'ol days.

5 Alarms on Box 3861 (Sprague St @ Lakeside Ave, last box before Dedham) on January 28, 1985 @ 0959hrs for 46 Sprague Street. Cinder block machine shop. Workers thought they extinguished a small fire, went to coffee, returned to discover they had not. :-)

We do. The Marine Unit goes out there quarterly, runs it & pumps water with it. The Captain of the Marine Unit (FCP Steve Waldron) is responsible for submitting a quarterly report to HQ detailing its condition.

It is the L15 crushed at the Vendome. This truck was rebult after the collapse and reentered service not sure if this picture was pre or post collapse

[/quote]

I have a slide somewhere of L-15's Maxim sitting at the shops after it was removed from the rubble at the Vendome. It was taken by my father and iis in his collection. If he ever decides to scan the slids, I will be happy to post it.

Is it me, or are the roof beacons completely different sizes/models?
