This & That from Here & There - GA_Dave - 05-14-2010 Last one for now..... Ladder 1, Rossville, GA 2009 KME Predator 2000/500/75' GSO-7361 This & That from Here & There - GA_Dave - 05-26-2010 This past Saturday, Dan and I headed north to the Chattanooga area. The forecast called for sunny skies, but the sun played hide and seek most of the day. USAR-1, Chattanooga, TN 2006 Rosenbauer Commander AT (Central States) This & That from Here & There - GA_Dave - 05-26-2010 While we were at Soddy-Daisy last month, we learned that they had sold their Pirsch "Telesqurt" to Sale Creek, just up the road. I had visited Sale Creek about 18-20 years ago and shot a few rigs, so I asked about any changes since then. They have grown from one to four stations, with a fifth in the works. Saturday, we decided to check them out. Being a VFD, finding someone would be the first challenge, but once I did, others showed up. One of them took us to the other three stations. It carries 2000' of 4". This & That from Here & There - GA_Dave - 05-26-2010 Station 3 is the home to the two most interesting apparatus in their fleet. At first glance, Engine 1844 doesn't seem too special, but it is. Back in 1985, American LaFrance designed a new modular-construction pumper, to be called the Rebel. The prototype was being built on a 1984 Ford C-8000 chassis. Before production could begin, the Elmira factory closed. In 1986, a new company began operations in Bluefield, VA. The Kersey/American LaFrance factory would manufacture the Century 2000, Pacemaker, Pioneer 90 and Patriot model apparatus from 1986-1994. During this transition, the Rebel prototype was moved to Bluefield and completed. It was sold to the fire department in nearby Bluefield, WV. It was the only Rebel ever produced by American LaFrance. Engine 1844, Sale Creek, TN 1984/1986 Ford C-8000/American LaFrance Rebel 1000/750 x-Bluefield, WV This & That from Here & There - GA_Dave - 05-26-2010 This is the rig that Sale Creek bought from Soddy-Daisy. Soddy-Daisy only had it for a short time and I never had the chance to photograph it there. They never painted it to their color scheme and replaced it with the 75' Telesqurt in Post #1499. Back in 1974, Syracuse purchased seven Maxi Pumpers from Pierce. Built on Hendrickson 1871S 4x4 chassis, they featured 2000 GPM pumps, 500 gallon tanks, and 55' telescopic aerial devices. These devices were named Hi Stream and built by Highway Trailer Industries of Edgerton, WI. Most of us veteran buffs are aware of the Hi Stream rigs at Syracuse, but I had never heard or read about any others being built. Saturday, I returned to school! Ladder 1870, Sale Creek, TN 1975 Ford C/Pirsch 1000/500/55' Hi Stream #PM-48 x-Soddy-Daisy, TN x-Edgerton, WI This & That from Here & There - GA_Dave - 05-26-2010 Last one for now..... It was always a favorite in Johnson County, really a neat rig. It is a walk-in Rescue with the FDNY split rear doors and Federal Aero-Dynic Mini Light Bars on the rear. This used to be Mission, Kansas Fire District 1/ Mission Fire Department Inc. Rescue 560. This was purchased in 1982 to replace a 1960's Ford Van. This unit responded to all Entrapment-Pin Job's and also made fire's for lighting and support. It was acquired by Consolidated Fire District 2 when they adsorbed Mission in 1989 and became Rescue 261. CFD2 operated this rig until 1995ish when it was sold. Fellow Fire Pixer Eng61ine's father was Captain on the Engine 520 housed with this Rescue at Mission. I know he responded with it or on it from time to time. Thanks again, Rick NOTE: The Q siren used to be mounted on a stanchion centered below the windshield while at Mission/ CFD 2. Also the electronic siren speaker is not original and added after it left CFD2. This & That from Here & There - GA FIREMAN - 05-26-2010 Great pics Dave! Andy B. had a Demo Central engine @ Metro Chiefs today. It will be in PTC tomorrow....PTT This & That from Here & There - Andrew2340 - 05-27-2010 According to Bill F's E\-One database, Hose Wagon 1871 with E\-One SO # 3693 formerly served as a 1984 Ford F800/E-One air supply unit in Boston, MA. Neat rigs down in that area, I'll have to go back down there sometime. This & That from Here & There - GA_Dave - 05-27-2010 Quote:According to Bill F's E-One database, Hose Wagon 1871 with E-One SO # 3693 formerly served as a 1984 Ford F800/E-One air supply unit in Boston, MA. Actually, that number came off a 1984 F-350. They still have it, now carrying a dually pickup bed and a skid unit. This & That from Here & There - GA_Dave - 05-28-2010 After a bit more research, the Boston rig was used as a Mask Service Unit. Originally, that body had a raised roof above the compartments. Sale Creek removed the roof and upper walls and filled the rear body with 4", but found that the F-350 was then overloaded. The County had remounted the ambulance box from the International chassis, so Sale Creek moved the rear axle forward, lopped off the excess frame and remounted the hose body on it. They currently have another utility box, similar to that on Rescue 1886, and another International ambulance chassis, that they intend to build into another hose wagon.
