Terry's Tid Bits II - Roto-Ray - 12-01-2010
My girlfriend and I took a trip about a week ago to visit her sister in South Carolina and we took the long way and here are some pics I got along the way. This Hopewell,Va. engine was at C.W. Williams in Rocky Mount,NC(not sure if it was there for work or a trade in).
Terry, nice assortment of rigs! I really like the city service unit for Fair Bluff, you're right that it's unusual for the area. As for the Hopewell rig, this was replaced by a new quint last year, and they've sent it to CW Williams to have it converted to a 500 gallon foam unit with no water. I'm not sure yet when it's going to return to Hopewell. Terry's Tid Bits II - dawson_fire - 12-01-2010 Manning also ran this Pierce Dash engine. This all I have but now know where more stations are for the next time and I can't wait to shoot more from the area. Terry Terry's Tid Bits II - dawson_fire - 12-01-2010 Thanks for the info Dave and Taylor! I didn't get too much as I had a time to meet... Terry Terry's Tid Bits II - Guest - 12-01-2010 Terry, When you were at Manning's station, there was a Clarendon County station about 2 blocks away. It is a pretty big station. Multiple rigs, reserve rigs, and training site are located here. They have a nice White/Red Mack/Baker with a pump on it. Terry's Tid Bits II - dawson_fire - 12-01-2010 Thanks, that is the station I found but didn't have time to shoot, there's always next time... Terry Terry's Tid Bits II - mnsand - 12-01-2010
Here is the other side and the pump plate for those who want to keep track of her whereabouts. Terry
The beauty and value of a serial number, especially with a FD the size of Fairfax County. Thank you Terry for providing that as I enjoy tracking where FXCO trucks go once leaving the county. 1998 E\-One Cyclone II 1250/750. Originally Engine 430 in Merrifield and then spent some time at Gunston Engine 420. County number 7007. Thanks again Terry. Mike Sanders Terry's Tid Bits II - B95MACKFIRE - 12-01-2010
This was the best catch of the trip as you don't see this kind of truck in the south very much(or at least I haven't) was this Pierce Arrow from Fair Bluff,NC and it was bought through Brindlee Mtn. Terry
That was new to the city of Peekskill New York [ Westchester County ] and ran as Engine 134 for 20+ years Terry's Tid Bits II - ShoreFire - 12-01-2010 In ref the Fair Bluff rig, their website list's it as a 1500/500 Rescue Engine. Interesting! Terry's Tid Bits II - jlg1875 - 12-01-2010
That was new to the city of Peekskill New York [ Westchester County ] and ran as Engine 134 for 20+ years
What did they replace it with? Terry's Tid Bits II - Truckman - 12-01-2010
After getting to Manning I shot these trucks sitting along I-95,first is this American LaFrance ladder which was marked for Albermarle City and I think is a 85' model. I was told it was a 1949 but I have my doubts as I didn't think that cab came out until later and the Detroit engine brought a tear to my eye. It also had markings on the cab as a Foamite. Terry
That is a 900 series Terry. Probably around 1972 - 1975 or so. It is a pre century style with the double windshield wipers as the century had. The 1949's would have been a series 700.
E\-One rescue Terry's Tid Bits II - SrFireOfficial - 12-01-2010
Here is the other side and the pump plate for those who want to keep track of her whereabouts. Terry
Note the black trim in the rub rails, on the front intake swivel, the floodlights and backs of the traffic directional arrows. This was all done to prep the vehicle to be used in a LODD funeral for one of our fallen members. Terry's Tid Bits II - mnsand - 12-01-2010
Note the black trim in the rub rails, on the front intake swivel, the floodlights and backs of the traffic directional arrows. This was all done to prep the vehicle to be used in a LODD funeral for one of our fallen members.
Very interesting fact about this engine. Thanks for sharing. Here is the E\-One while running as Engine 420 and photographed in April of 2006. Mike Sanders Terry's Tid Bits II - BFD1151 - 12-02-2010 Thanks for posting Terry! For a short time a few years ago, Fair Bluff ran a really neat ALF Pioneer 55' snorkel but it was sold a short time after they bought it from Brindlee Mountain. Terry's Tid Bits II - Guest - 12-04-2010
Manning runs this ALF ladder truck that looks like it could have been used for the AMT model. Terry
You're right Terry, it does!!!! Terry's Tid Bits II - dawson_fire - 12-29-2010 I have a bunch of pics just not the time to post but it seems a little slow so I'ma gonna try to post a few. These are from the Cumberland County Convention in Carlisle this past summer.
