St. Louis Metro - Truckman - 04-02-2010
And finally Affton's spare pumper in the early 80's
Could this be a Mack N model??? St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-02-2010 I completely forgot that Shady Valley bought the old 72/33! That's the first picture I've seen of it sporting the Shady Valley door decal. How neat! Matt, I remember when Affton got the E\-One/Ford-C for 31 Pumper in 1985 and we got their Pierce as the new 33. That was such a cool truck to be on, with the rumble of the Detroit Diesel, since the Ford C had a gas engine, and the blue "Dancing Lady" Mars light up front bouncing off buildings and traffic at night. We really thought we were the s--t then! Too bad they removed the Q on it years before. And WHY??? Affton's reserve pumper (with the 4 headlights) was an early 1960's Ford C, not a Mack. Live house burns for training in the 1980's: Too bad we can't have those anymore around here. What a great way to keep up on skills, since we don't have the amount of working fires like we used to.
Thanks for posting the info, dates and stuff Jeff. As you know, that stuff is not my strong suit. I just took the shots! St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-02-2010
The Wellston FPD operated this classic ladder truck before they changed their name to the Mid-County FPD in the 1980s. Aerial Co. # 7 1967 Seagrave 1000/300/85' RM Sold to St. Charles, MO. FD Unknown Photographer/David J.Dubowski Photo Collection [/quot It later became 219, after running as Aerial Co. 7. I'm not sure what year the numbers changed; the late 1960's or early 1970's. We used to have a box of old run cards for some of the surrounding departments at our old firehouse, and 219 was shown as being booked in on 4th or 5th Alarms in Richmond Heights and Clayton. St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-02-2010
Here's a few for you Dave, these are from a joint training (Wellston FPD, U City FD, and Gardenville) house burn in Wellston. Wellston FPD Pumper 224(now Mid County FPD) and U City 263
Aahhh, yes, the heyday of the Seagrave fire truck in St. Louis County. Those were the days!!! Just about every department/district had one or two, or more, thanks to Leo Ellerbracht! I miss those days. St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-03-2010 jeff thankes for posting those good pictures from back in the day at affton loved driving that old Pierce it had a good sound to it old gary counts would always say can this truck get any louder we need ear pluges. also like the old seagraves pictures. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/luxhello.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-03-2010 Here are some St. Louis City FD pics from the early 80's. This was a Ahrens Fox parade truck parked at the 2's downtown. St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-03-2010 STL Pumper 2 St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-03-2010 Spare Pumper 32 St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-03-2010 STL Spare Pumper 6 St. Louis Metro - ben_mazanec - 04-03-2010
STL Spare Pumper 6
Ex-Pumper 8 the only Mack CF the STLFD owned as a Pumper. I know we had two Mack CF Rescues. those were cool! Nice old stuff! St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-03-2010 Is that Mack the one that sits in a lot just NE of the city museum with an old snorkel? It's a shame those have sat outside for such a long period of time. There is a Howe that sits next to a church on N Market just east of the 5s. St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-04-2010 Credit for the Affton and Wellston/U. City pics go to Matt (cvame2202) from Colorado (formerly of StL!). The Pierce was painted solid red after Affton sold it, but I'm not sure where it is now, and I never saw it in red. That was definately a cool ol' rig!!! St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-04-2010 You can take some credit Jeff, after all you were my chauffeur Here are some more St. Louis City shots from around 1983: Pumper 11 St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-04-2010 Hook & Ladder 1 with Firepixer JM82 St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-04-2010 Pumper 29 St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-04-2010 Snorkel 5 St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-04-2010 Spare Snorkel St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-04-2010 Pumper Ladder 8 which was one of the, if not the first St. Louis Quint but ran as a Hook & Ladder (often special called for it's capabilities) St. Louis Metro - Guest - 04-04-2010 STL Pumper 7, that's all for today.
