Didn't Engine 7 already have their engine refurbed? Will that engine be going somewhere else in the fleet? or become a spare?

I would have to say it will be thecurrent E7 will be reassigned to another slower company

Yes, their 1999 E\-One (former E41) was completely refurbished within the past year or so. I'd guess that that piece will go to a slower company (E56 or E20 maybe) while the newer pieces E52 (2001 E\-One Cyclone II) & E53 (2002 Pierce Enforcer) will be refurbed & reassigned. Engine 48 has the oldest frontline piece in service, a 1994 E\-One Protector so my guess would be they would get one & probably Engine 30 (1996 E\-One Cyclone II) would get the other. Engine 49's issue is with the height of their overhead doors. They HAVE to be assigned a flat roof piece & even then the deck gun needs to be removed in order to fit it in.

I thought it was interesting that they had no mention of apparatus height in the descriptions of the new specs. I would think that all that talk of a pre-piped waterway and higher handrails on the stick would make the overall height harder to fit in most Boston houses no?

What I also find interesting reviewing the specs is the wording "KME 109' Boston style Aerialcat ladder truck". Did KME maybe do some re-designing of the 109' for the needs of Boston? Maybe a lower profile rig or something of that nature. I look forward to seeing the end product. KME has been offering some decent "urban/city" rigs over the last few years and I am sure these will be workhorses as well.

They have been running a 2001 E\-One Cyclone II 1000/750 for the past few weeks. This piece was formerly assigned to both E4 (prior to them getting the Pierce) & E33 (prior to them getting the KME). It was refurbed earlier this year & given to them in September. Due to the height restrictions at their firehouse they MUST have a flat roofed cab, a raised roof will not fit.

I think the HAZMAT is coming from EVI in Florida sometime next month.

Should be down at HQ now, but I haven't been down there in a week or two. Currently designated H3, the Haz-Mat truck is cross-staffed by a member of Engine 22 (just as H2, Lighting Plant, is cross staffed by members of Engine 3). Currently 1 member a shift is detailed from E22 to H3 to drive the rig. I'm hoping that with the larger size they plan on staffing it with a MINIMUM of 2 members to respond with E22 and one of our 2 Haz-Mat Teams (E53/L16/D12 in Div 2 & E33/L15/D4 in Div 1).

Thanks for the info. Good thing 33/15 are the 1st Division Haz Mat team, they would seem not to be all that busy having plenty of time to train and drill on Haz Mat
