Some tidbits from John's book (good luck to those seeking a copy, I'm glad I got 1 from him 10 years ago at the Allentown flea market.)
It appears PBF topped out at 61 stations in 1915, there was 59 engine houses, 1 hose co. (#1), and 1 truck house (#10). The truck cos. were chaged from letter designations to numbers at that time.
The first company elimination was in 1922 and involved 5 engines.
By 1952, there were only 3 2-piece engines in PBF, #12-32-47, last one gone by 1970 (#32), used a 1931 ALF turret/hose wagon.
PBF FF Anthony Lundy was killed in 1984 after falling from a tailboard while the engine was reversing. This eventually led first to safety harnesses, but PBF FFs did not finally get off tailboards until the demise of the 80's Ford/Grummans.
PBF's ALF Aerochiefs were delivered in March, 1971.

Pg. 124 from Schmidt's book,built in 1877 at Arch and Jacksonia Sts. (lower North side) originally Allegheny City FD #3, annexed 1907 by Pittsburgh and renumbered 43.
Co. moved in 1971 to a new station at 1315 Federal St. Disbanded 1981.
1877 station may still survive, Federal St. station was closed in 1992, and may have been razed.

My fault, it has been so long since the tillers were used. There were 2 on the straight trucks.

This was the Monessen FD HQ "storage yard" in 7/07. This is located in what appears to be an old RR Depot parking lot. MFD also has a warehouse to store the 69 Snorkel in, and there is also another garage that houses antique rigs.
L to R: the 89 Seagrave TDA, EX-?; the 76 Seagrave tractor with the boat tender; a reserve Seagrave engine, storage trailer, and the 79 Seagrave TDA.

Nice shots, the 1989 Seagrave tiller was from up in the New England states, maybe Mass. I saw it at the Western Convention at Fairchance. Monesson also had their antique Seagrave truck there as well. They also have a Ward LaFrance that will soon be placed out of service when their new Seagrave engine arrives. The Ward is be kept as well. They can start their own museum with what they have. They may also still have their Mack CF. Not sure though.

Looking at my pictures, the tractor pulling the boat is from 14 Truck. It carried Pittsburgh shop # 76054. This truck was in service at 14 Truck in the summer of 1988 as I was attending Duquesne University for two classes to lighten up the load for my senior year. The guys were doing a public service detail in Oakland when I stopped. I always had my camera when I went in the city.

do we know why monessen keeps all there trucks????? i was just wondering why they would want to keep them all.

I'm not too sure why Monesson keeps all their trucks. I am headed out there in the spring to take pictures of the new truck. I'll be sure and ask. I still think its neat to see that both of the Pittsburgh Seagrave tillers ended up at the same home.

I am sorry for the poor picture of this fine piece of equipment , but this ALF Tractor Drawn was at the Pechin's Auction. As you can see, it is painted in the Steeler/Pirates/Penguins black and gold. It was in a separate building that was not open to the general audience that day but I was able to lawfully gain entry. The label plate states the date of final manufacture as 10/74 and the VIN was C14 4067. It had a DD 8V-71N and an Allison 4 speed automatic transmission.
Many questions for the group:
1. Which company(s) did it serve at?
2. Who was the successful bidder?
3. Is it being well cared for now?

Is Haz Mat 01 operated by PBEMS as indicated on your list or simply quartered with them? Is this '96 the while Pierce Saber with a green stripe? How is it staffed and run?
You have 2 Station #34's listed or is it a corner building with a bay on each street and therefore 2 addresses?
