Nice find Mark! That would be "Subligna" which is a town in Georgia. Our own Dave Organ's Ward LaFrance engine once served Subligna, GA also.

That open cab Seagrave tiller has been there at least 4+ years now. Was the big-ass tracked thing still in the driveway when you came by last week?

This rig is declining fast and may be beyond hope.

Does anyone know if this truck is still there. I sent this pic to some of the members of Scottdale VFD and one is interested in finding this rig and fixing up. Thanks for any and all help.
I need some help with this one. I found it at a house on the side of the road on Rt. 11 south of Cleveland, TN. All I know is that it's a 1958 Ford with an Atlas Transport Tank body. The back of the tank says "Brookfield" and the faded out letters on the doors resemble something like "Sublicna". Any ideas?

Mark Carr photo
I believe it came from Brookfield CT. THey had a tanker just like it when I was a kid!

On Wednesday I found this sitting along the tree line in a field beside and old gas station. It is the old Engine of the Hickory Corners and Community Fire Company of Northumberland County, PA. It sits less then a quarter mile away from their current fire station.

I have it pegged as a 1848 International/Oren. It still has the Oren plate on the side of the pump panel.

That sure looks like a pumper that I took a photo of when I was a wee little lass in the 80's. I was in MA with my family on vacation.

Do you know anything about this station? Do they have a FF memorial out front and an old duece and a half setup for brush breaking (or at least used to have)? I'll have to pull out my old photos to see if I can find the picture I'm thinking about.

My, what a small world.

Relics - hoss - 10-31-2008

So being on vacation and fairly poor I was traveling around the NW Corner of CT when Lakeville got toned for a possible brush fire - put the address into the GPS and I was about 30 mins away - not bad from Norfolk - well the GPS took me over some back roads I'd never been on before <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Thumbsup' /> and by a junkyard with a classic Maxim sitting out front - I was torn between continuing to the working incident or shooting a classic. My luck kept coming and they called the brush fire under control with units returning after I had only gone a mile or 2 past the junkyard - you know my pick up has reserve and I used it in a hurry. I found.....West Hartford, CT Engine 2 - a 195? Maxim - the "guy" at the junk yard said if anyone wants it to make an offer. I can probably find a phone number on the very odd chance anyone is interested. The "guy" said that the truck was actually driven into the yard 4 or 5 years ago.

Mike,

Thanks for another blast from the past. Another 'pixer and I did 'rookie school' on this rig around 1990. If I remember correctly, it was retired from Danvers (lime!), purchased by a private citizen and donated to the town. It never ran much and was mostly used for training. It was also well-loved by the time we got to it. The pre-piped gun was fed by a large pipe in the canopy with a handwheel, which leaked. This caused water to drip and pool on the roof, which then dripped through the holes where the gumball used to be, onto the siren and radios! Good times.

To the pixer who thinks he might've shot this rig, Linebrook Station is off route 1. It doesn't have a memorial that I'm aware of. Ipswich did have a deuce, but they got it around 1991 and it was a tanker, not a breaker. Also, it was lime if that helps. Today Linebrook houses a reserve engine (unmanned) and a private ambulance.

Relics - Guest - 11-01-2008

James,

Being that other pixer that spent the summer of 1990 at Linebrook Station (do you have any idea how LONG AGO that was!) I think that they have some sort of a monument/memorial out front there.

Not much of one, but still.

Nothing like throwing ladders against the side of Fantasies! Those of you from the North Shore remember that one, right?!?

Here's a former Ventura County (CA) FD GMC bumper-pumper. It rested in a storage lot off the 101 Freeway just over the LA/Ventura county line in 1989. My photo.
