Mack Fire Apparatus - Guest - 03-18-2012 Okay, I know alot about the CF's, but whats the difference between a C85 and a C95 Mack? Mack Fire Apparatus - e290l103 - 03-18-2012 pump size.there were 6 types of C Models C21- 1250 GPM Pump 5 Built C505- 500 GPM Pump 2 Built C75- 750 GPM Pump 6 Built C85- 750 GPM Pump 308 Built C95- 1000 GPM Pump 605 Built C125-1250 GPM Pump 129 Built Mack Fire Apparatus - Guest - 03-18-2012
pump size.there were 6 types of C Models C21- 1250 GPM Pump 5 Built C505- 500 GPM Pump 2 Built C75- 750 GPM Pump 6 Built C85- 750 GPM Pump 308 Built C95- 1000 GPM Pump 605 Built C125-1250 GPM Pump 129 Built
1055 Mack C models were built between 1958 and 1968? That seems kinda low for a 10 year period. Dan Mack Fire Apparatus - e290l103 - 03-18-2012 there were 1055 C Model Fire Apparatus built. Mack Fire Apparatus - Guest - 03-18-2012 Thanks Mike always a wealth of knowledge. I always figured c85 meant a gas engine and c95 meant a diesel engine... Mack Fire Apparatus - OPEN CAB MACK - 03-18-2012
Ed, on the delivery pic is that a small ladder on the hardsleeve?
Yes, one of the members at No. 3 at the time worked for Alcoa at the Technical Center. He hade that as a small inside ladder. Before the collapsable ladders. It served on the 49 L-Model and was transferred to the CF. Mack Fire Apparatus - Truckman - 03-18-2012
Thanks Mike always a wealth of knowledge. I always figured c85 meant a gas engine and c95 meant a diesel engine...
I believe that the Chrome Bull Dog meant Gasoline Engine and the Gold Colored Bull Dog meant Diesel Engine. Mack Fire Apparatus - OPEN CAB MACK - 03-19-2012
I believe that the Chrome Bull Dog meant Gasoline Engine and the Gold Colored Bull Dog meant Diesel Engine.
Gold meant Mack engine, chrome meant competitor engine Mack Fire Apparatus - Truckman - 03-19-2012
Gold meant Mack engine, chrome meant competitor engine
Thanks Ed for that. Mack Fire Apparatus - Guest - 03-19-2012 From the Wikipedia site: "A Mack truck with a gold-plated bulldog indicates that the entire truck is made of Mack components. Trucks with another manufacturer's transmission, engine, rear axles or suspension are given the chrome-plated bulldog." Mack Fire Apparatus - msm618 - 03-19-2012
Gold meant Mack engine, chrome meant competitor engine
What year did they change to that? I recall several C's here on the North Shore delivered with EN707F's and chrome dogs (Saugus, Lynn, Marblehead). Ed, maybe you remember one of Malden's C-125's, END673T diesel with the chrome pup. Believe chief Romano bought it at auction. Also, to further confuse myself, I believe I read on FP a few years back, that a Gold pup meant a complete Mack drivetrain, including rear axle. Any help on unfogging my mind is greatly appreciated! Mack Fire Apparatus - msm618 - 03-19-2012
What year did they change to that? Mack Fire Apparatus - B95MACKFIRE - 03-19-2012 My mack is all Mack and has a chrome dog 1957 B-95 707 gas Mack Fire Apparatus - chfc14 - 03-19-2012
My mack is all Mack and has a chrome dog 1957 B-95 707 gas
OK, I'll add my 2 cents to the confusion. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/shrug.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I always understood that the gold pup indicated that the engine/trans were the Mack Maxidine/ Maxitorque combination. These were introduced near the time the CF's came out, maybe that helps. TJ <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/stirpot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Mack Fire Apparatus - Guest - 03-19-2012 Always Chrome Dogs around Central Florida on the CF's. They Don't build a Firetruck that tuff anymore. Mack Fire Apparatus - CCusson15 - 03-19-2012 This thread is great! Is there a place where I can search the list of all Mack CFs built? I am looking for info on the two Marlborough, MA had. One was a MMA (1972?), the other a pumper (1972). I'd love to find out what happened to either of these, last I saw of them they were sitting on route 1 in Foxboro, MA at a scrap yard / dealer. Thanks in advance for any info!! Mack Fire Apparatus - e290l103 - 03-19-2012 there is no such list. its all a work in progress. I will look tomorrow for the two rigs you are asking about Mack Fire Apparatus - B95MACKFIRE - 03-19-2012
A You Tube video shows them receiving a newer rig and shows the Ford tanker, no Mack R. Wonder if is off the road or sold???? Stay safe, Brothers. |
