Okay - need help with this one. It has a Crown logo on it, but it is a White chassis? It is Horseshoe Bay, Texas' Ladder 1

Killeen Airport is covered by KFD's Station 4 - a neat trip for the apparatus buff. Here are the two rigs that were there a year ago:Killeen, Texas CFR 4

Man you got lucky to get a pic of that. When I was in Killeen I was told I had a better chance of winning the lotto then getting pics from AMCOM FD.

Yeah- it was a lucky shot. I couldn't even find out what other rigs they had... They did say that there were 5 of these rigs placed in service - one at AMCOM and 4 at Ft. Hood - but the Ft. Hood rigs were all torn up over the years of tank trail abuse.

I like that hummer with the bumper gun.

I believe Engine 1 has a 1500 GPM. That what it had listed on the pump panel.

I checked my Crown list and found no match to this rig. It's not the first Pierce rig I've seen with a Crown logo. I think Crown was a dealer for Pierce years ago, but I'm not sure. However, it does have a Snorkel Telesqurt on it. As I've mentioned before, Snorkel was often the primary contractor and Pierce was their subcontracted body builder. The rig could have been spec'd with the White chassis. Do you know if this rig is original to Horseshoe Bay? If it was originally delivered to another FD, it could have been sold through Crown. Maybe you could ask Mr. Miller. He probably shot it years ago!

BTW, it's about time somebody shot some Killeen stuff! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hail.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Hail' /> I remember when 225 was delivered. KFD also had an older version, called 226. It was a Loadstar, possibly with a Boardman body. All of their rigs were white back then, except the Seagrave TDA. That was almost my first FD, my green uniform kept me from getting one of their blue ones!

Crown was indeed a west coast Snorkel and Pierce dealer. So, there were some Squrts, Telesqurts, and Snorkels with mixtures of Crowns and Pierce plates. The Pierce log has this rig listed as a demo. It may have then been purchased by Horeshoe Bay or acquired second hand from elsewhere.

Went to the muster/parade in Hugo, Oklahoma today and this rig was the newest truck there. It is Faught, Texas' 2008 Kenworth/Fouts 750/3000. It replaces a 1983 American LaFrance/Saulsbury that I have posted earlier in this forum.

What are the plains for the old ALF/Saulsbury tanker? That is also one great looking tanker.

You are sure right, Billy. In fact, here is another shot of her.

Evidently, when you apply for a FEMA grant with the claim that your rig is "no longer capable of firefighting operations,", FEMA stipulates in the grant that the old vehicle must not be used for firefighting anymore. That includes your department or any other. There was a loop hole where someone individually could purchase the rig then sell it to another department, but I heard they closed that loophole. I was telling the guys that they needed to keep it in a perpetual bid process, just keep it in the station for a parade truck, but they need to bucks and are trying to sell it. It is up for sale for some outrageous amount, so maybe my thought isn't too far from reality....
