Yes this is the same rig. It was repainted orange in the mid to late 70s.

This was another rig that was repainted to the orange/white color scheme in the mid to late 70s. I think it looked better in the old white & red.

This rig originally was one of the high pressure hose companies that served the high value districts downtown. Only two were equipped with pumps. When the hose companies were disbanded in the mid 70s, two of the companies were organized into engine companies, #1 & # 59. (Engine 1 was always the rescue squad. When it was renamed as "Rescue 1" around 1970, Baltimore was without an "Engine 1" until the hose companies were disbanded.) Engine 59 operated as the satellite engine to the water tower.

The "Rigs of the Unheralded Heroes" list it as a 1958 model. Gerty made some great rigs back in the day. Here is the MHU in it's white/red color scheme. Photo from my collection, original photographer unknown.

I am sure it would make awesome reading to find the old MOP's (is that right for Baltimore FD?) governing the use of some of the older specialized units from back in their glory days. Does anybody have access to them and a scanner? I'd love to read/hear more about operating policies and procedures for such apparatus.

Funny because the handouts that were with the rig said Forestville on them. OK.
