Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - Fire28 - 12-14-2008

Trying to tie up loose ends.

Loudoun County

Has the Mobile Ambo bus been put in the field? If so where?

Did Loudoun get a COG Mass Care Support Unit?

The 1991 International/E-One from Lucketts, Did it go to the Training Academy? If so did get assigned a number?

Are E94 96 97 98 all still at the Academy?

With the arrival of the 2 New Pierce Contenders and Piere Truck for the Academy what if anything is going to get sold/scrapped/relocated?

E99 the Pierce w/ Clear pump panel, Its back from Nerrsville Correct? Is it at the Academy? Can anyone provide the specs on it for me?

The 4 New 08 Pierce Dash Engines where did they all get assigned?

Who all got the 2007 International 7400(or is it 7600)/4-Guys Tankers?

Was TA605 a seperate order?

And lastly....

Does anyone have a Loudoun County roster I can get my hands on? (Might answer several questions)

Thanks

Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - Guest - 12-14-2008

From what I know:

1. Lucketts' IH/E-One is at the training center.

2. E99 has been used in the field as a spare for RH Co.4 last time I saw the piece.

3. Three Dash engines went to: Co.4, Co.10, Co.16 and saw a new one for Co.3 on Pierce's site.

4. The four IH/4-Guys went to Co.2, Co.4, Co.8 and Co.10. Co.5 was built first and separate (IH/Pierce).

5. VAFirenews has an apparatus list located at: http://www.vafirenews.com/features/apparat...loudoun-county/

6. I've seen pictures of a mobile ambo bus in LoCo colors and suspect its at the training center or county garage.

Any corrections and/or additions are welcomed.

New Roanoke paint scheme for the medic trucks

Medic 3 will be in service at the new station 3 which replaces station 10 in January. The former medic 3 at station 3 was moved to the new station 1 and renamed medic 1. Lost yet...you get the idea.

Not the best pics, and not a fire "truck". The former trucks were all white with red striping.

Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - Guest - 12-14-2008

And here is the back. With the striping for hi vis.

We got four of these at once. Medic 1,3,9, and 4 maybe. I can't keep up.

I will add some additional items from what Chris already provided:

The Medical Ambulance Bus (or MAB), is currently kept at the Training Center. Long term plans are to eventually place it in the field at a fire station. Photo attached.

Loudoun County did not receive a COG Mass Care Support Unit. Those were assigned to FD's closer to the DC area. One consideration in Loudoun maybe not receiving one of these units is that Dulles Airport has a tractor trailer unit dedicated to a mass care support unit.

The Lucketts International/E-One engine did go to the Training Center, but is the only piece I have seen that does not have a unit number on the truck itself. I believe it is a "short timer" at the training center.

Engine 94 (Round Hill's old Hahn), Engine 96 (Neersville's old Int'l/KME), Engine 97 (old Sterling Pierce), and Engine 98 (another old Sterling Pierce) are still at the training center. Engine 98 is now OOS - I was told a blown motor. Obviously, numerous changes will occur to Training Center apparatus once the two new engines arrive.

Old Engine 99, which went to Neersville, is a 2002 Pierce Enforcer 1250/750 (Pierce job # 12990). I have been told that this engine will become a "ready reserve" for the county. Unsure where it will be housed.

An additional tanker (or tankers) are very close to being ordered (or have been ordered). In addition, Leesburg has placed an order for a Pierce engine/tanker.

Send me a message with your email and I can get a somewhat updated Loudoun County roster to you.

I know the Virginia thread is a long one, however you will find a vareity of Loudoun County photos and information on it. There is also another Loudoun County thread that was started on firepics.

Mike,

Here is the update as I know it.

Old Wagon 10 will be relettered and stay at the training center to support the new Contenders as well as old Wagon 4. These will all be housed at the training center. The new Truck will also be at the training center for their use, but will be a ready reserve like Engine 99.

The order for the new Tankers will be coming soon. Not sure of the vendor, but the talk is one will be for Station 5 to replace the Pierce/IH. It will then become the system ready spare. The other is unassigned as of now.

I will keep you posted as much as I can.

Thanks,

Ray
Here is what I really wanted at Gretna. This is an unusual rescue squad and I knew by the paint scheme that it had come from the Elsmere, Delaware VFD.

Rescue 228

1970 Imperial/Providence

Imperial serial number 1-507

18' squad body

Originally owned by Elsmere, DE. Sold to Pillow, PA. Gretna received in June of 2000.

When looking through the bay door windows, I thought it was a Hahn. Strong resemblence.

Gretna plans on selling this truck in the near future.

What a great rig! Hope they had second thoughts about selling it...

Thanks for the shot Mike!

When I was in Gretna several months ago, the rig was sitting behind the station with a blown motor, and the department was making plans to replace it with another used rig. I don't know if those plans came into fruition or not...

Is that the old Engine, 1992 Seagrave, or the old Wagon, a 1987 Seagrave?

I believe the 92 Seagrave went to Brushtown,Pa. which is now the Southeast Adams Volunteer Emergency Services department and it is running out of the McSherrystown station.

This engine was white with a red stripe at Winchester, repainted white over red at Brushtown, and now is in SAVE's scheme of all-red with gold stripe.
