Maybe Jack W. can give more of a history on this station. I was amazed at the skill of the driver. PHOTOS BY EMS 12 (PAT SHOOP) - jshippey - 11-25-2012 Wow...that is a tight fit....can't have a bad day driving there! PHOTOS BY EMS 12 (PAT SHOOP) - Guest - 11-25-2012 I dont think they will be getting a 102" Wide Engine any time soon. PHOTOS BY EMS 12 (PAT SHOOP) - drfeelgood - 11-25-2012 Where did the mirrors go?? PHOTOS BY EMS 12 (PAT SHOOP) - SrFireOfficial - 11-25-2012 WOW...Tip of the helmet to the brothers who drive there everyday and even more to the back up drivers. I HAVE THE SAME PHOTO AT A LITTLE DIFFERENT ANGLE. THE MIRRORS ARE PULLED BACK TO THE CAB. PHOTOS BY EMS 12 (PAT SHOOP) - davebowen - 11-26-2012 HERE IS THE SHOT FROM AN ANGLE. YOU CAN SEE THE MIRRORS ARE PULLED BACK. WE WERE TOLD IF THEY NEED A RESERVE ENGINE THEY CAN ONLY USE THAT MODEL Seagrave RIGHT NOW. PHOTOS BY EMS 12 (PAT SHOOP) - Guest - 11-26-2012 That is freaking insane! Great photo Pat! I thought Baltimore Truck 25 had it the worst lol. PHOTOS BY EMS 12 (PAT SHOOP) - Guest - 11-26-2012
HERE IS THE SHOT FROM AN ANGLE.
Is Engine 37 the oldest pumper and only Seagrave of that model still in front line service? PHOTOS BY EMS 12 (PAT SHOOP) - EMS 12 - 11-26-2012 The roster provided in this years muster book shows 37 as the oldest any only 1991 Seagrave in front line service. Can't keep a good brand down. I know very little on the history of this station/rig. PHOTOS BY EMS 12 (PAT SHOOP) - Guest - 11-26-2012 That's pretty impressive Philly still has a rig that old! I just wonder if 37 will ever find a new engine that will fit in their house. PHOTOS BY EMS 12 (PAT SHOOP) - jpw25pfd - 11-26-2012
Yes this station is very neat. Maybe Jack W. can give more of a history on this station. I was amazed at the skill of the driver.
Pat, This is the oldest active firehouse in the city. It was opened in 1895. The company serves the Chestnut Hill neighborhood which is one of the most exclusive in Philadelphia. Several proposals have been put forth over the years to help alleviate the issue of the narrow doors but they were all shot down by the neighborhood association. PHOTOS BY EMS 12 (PAT SHOOP) - jpw25pfd - 11-26-2012
Is Engine 37 the oldest pumper and only Seagrave of that model still in front line service?
Engine 37 is using the last 1991 Seagrave engine in frontline service. They are supposed to be getting a 1995 KME that was extensively rehabbed by the manufacturer. Apparently, that model year fits through the doors. |
