Bruce, thanks for posting. Not to speak prematurely but I think your new rig might become my favorite rig in the current fleet! Nicely done with the chevrons too. Nice to see them used in a more limited fashion. They should look tight with the Fairoaks VFD color scheme. Strong work!

Thanks Nate. I think I will like it too. I do have to admit, I had nothing to do with the specs on this rig.

For the person that ask, E421B has a 118.5 inch wheel base. It's going to be a short one. I will list more specs when I make time to look them up.

Nice looking rig Bruce.....

It's funny that the only "in county" rigs that are carrying on the roto-ray tradition are the vollie houses. Engine 417, Engine 413 and now Engine 421Bravo. Strong work fellas. Let's hope the county catches on soon, and gets back to its roots. I have a number of career pals who feel the same way. Bring back the Roto-Ray Fairfax!

You sure on that? 118.5" is almost five feet shorter than the tight little '86 Hurricanes!

Fairfax County VA - Fire28 - 04-18-2011

Maybe 181.5"?

Hi all,

Great Pics. Not sure how many of you remember me, but I was a member here a while back, then life got a hold of me and I didn't get around to renewing my subscription (whoops!). Anyways but I'm back now (Same Username), and I got some pics I would like to share... Not the best quality, as there from my iPhone. Anyways, enjoy!

Ben

First up is an unusual one... Medic 438 (West Centreville) filling at FS08 (Annandale). Those of you that heard, this was the day of the 22 Fire when Engine 22's crew got caught in a flashover (all OK), and they ended up having (If I remember right) 12 Medic Units respond to the call. We filled at FS08 for about 2 Hours with Truck 403 (Fairfax City).

Every year during the Last Several Weeks of Fire School, the volunteers do "Incident Simulations" at the Fire Academy. During this we use the County Gas pumps on the grounds as a Make shift firehouse where units run out of so that the recruits can get the feel for running real calls. For these days we were running this as "Fire Station 477".

L to R: Engine 422-Bravo, Engine 414-Bravo, Chief 414-Bravo (running in the simulations as "Battalion Chief 414-Bravo"), and Ambulance 413-Echo.

Mobile Command Post 438 sits on the Front Apron of the firehouse during first day check.

Finally, recently FS38 just had a new patch made up (Best one in the county, if not in the whole NOVA Region if I do say so myself), and has just recently had them put on both the Engine and Truck side windows. They are looking for a place to put them on the Medic, but it hasn't worked out so far. Medic 38 is slated to get replaced in this next round of Medic Units coming in, so I'm thinking they are just going to wait until the new unit comes in to put it on. No sense in putting it on just to take it off in another 2 months or so. Anyway, hope you enjoyed!

One of my favorite rigs in the county! Living in Box 1711 I am lucky to see this sweetheart frequently. Thanks 438!
