Maryland photo's - Fire28 - 03-11-2011
Shoop - It probably is marked RS8 by now. The photo I posted was taken several months ago. The freighliner was beat up but this one isn't in much better condition. Can't blame Seat Pleasant. The county simply has no money. Too bad 8 can't get a new rig. It's one of the busier Squads in the county.
Stand by for further. A "New <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/drrescue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> " is in the planning stages. Maryland photo's - Guest - 03-11-2011
Bladensburg's truck was involved in an accident a week or 2 ago. Anybody hear whether or not it will be repaired? Damage looked pretty heavy. Also, I was told that the HME Squad that 8 was using, now actually says Rescue Squad 8 on it. Also from this photo, looks like a new bumper.
That P.O.S. used to have a number of different R8 stickers/labeling on the front bumper and grill area. The shops removed it from the grill area stating that it interfered with air flow and eventually removed the stickers from the front bumper because it did not comply with the new county numbering and labeling system. When it came back from the shop a couple of weeks ago it had 808 all over it, in the same places that the new county wagons have on them (30 and 46). The numbers have started to fall off already though. I would not hold my breath for a new squad going there anytime soon, the county already gave squad 20 what should have been the new squad 8 and the county keeps dumping money into that piece of crap HME. Maryland photo's - Guest - 03-11-2011 Why DID the new Seagrave Squad go to 20 and not 8? Maryland photo's - Guest - 03-11-2011 because 20 gave the county station 45... Maryland photo's - Chasselber1 - 03-11-2011 The ladder truck from Co. 9 will be out for 6-9 months. DMB it was OK for 47 to put numbers on the front of it when they had it though. It replaced a 700 Series ALF. Later in life it was used as a brush truck and was kept at the Taylor Ave station. 250GPM/250GWT Maryland photo's - Guest - 04-20-2011
I have it as a 1976. The idea was that it could respond to auto fires in the then newly opened Hillman Parking Garage in downtown Annapolis. It was originally delivered without an overhead ladder rack. The fire chief of the Annapolis Fire Dept at the time would not let the volunteers place the unt in service unless it was equipped with ladders, so the overhead rack was added. As you might guess, once the ladder rack was added, the rig would then not fit inside the garage due to the restricted clearence. After that, the city never really knew how to use the rig. The volunteers just ended up placing it in service as Brush 37. In the late 1980's when the city consolidated all the downtown fire companies into the Taylor Ave Fire Station, the rig was primarily used to tow the fire boat when it was not in the water. I'm not sure what the final disposition of this rig was, but I had heard rumors it ended up being used by the Annapolis City Public Works Dept. Maryland photo's - davebowen - 04-20-2011 I MISTAKENLY POSTED THE WRONG PHOTO IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE 1989 GMC K/???? I STILL DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS A BRUSH OR RESCUE. |
