[/quote] Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department Truck 1 and Truck 10 were 1984 Pierce Arrow/ LTI 100ft Midmount Ladders no pump or tank. Old Truck 10 is still in Reserve Service as Truck 99. Truck 1 was sold five years ago. Truck 1 was a 1956 Seagrave 100' tiller that saw service until 1984 when it was replaced by the 1984 Sutphen tower. Truck 2 was a 1957 Seagrave 100' tiller that had its cab replaced. As far as I know, these were to only 2 100' sticks in New Haven prior to 1960. Truck 3 and 5 were Seagrave 65' junior aerials, Truck 4 recieved a 100' Seagrave tiller when they purchased a 1960 model from Greenwich in the 1970's. As for Truck 6, I'm not sure on that one, will have to do some research on that. State Of Conneticut - Guest - 09-17-2011 I'm not sure of the year but Truck 6 used a 100ft Seagrave Tiller. [/quote] This truck is still in service as a front line engine. The foam capabilities were specified for the tank farms near the harbor and busy Interstate 95. The aerial was part of the specifications to "keep the taxpayers quiet". The truck covers the Annex and Morris Cove sections of New Haven, with the first due truck, Truck 3, coming from Fair Haven. Due the number of swing, lift and drawbridges T3 has to cross to reach these areas, the East Shore taxpayers complained that there would be an extensive delay for a ladder truck should one of the bridges be open, hence the aerial. The truck has never been used in the quint capacity, however the aerial is another arsenal in the chiefs toolbox, utilizing it in an elevated master stream capability. For those wondering, this rig actually replaced 2 rigs, a 1959 annivesrary series Seagrave pumper and a 1960 anniversary Seagrave foam engine. |
